This summer, United Airlines is offering passengers on a pair of routes to Italy a complimentary spritz cocktail.
Free Spritz Cocktails This Summer On A Pair Of United Airlines Italy Flights
Spritz cocktails, an Italian favorite, will be offered on a complimentary basis this summer in all cabins of service on a pair of United routes to Italy:
- Chicago (ORD) ⇄ Milan (MXP) – starting May 6, 2022, through August 6, 2022
- Newark (EWR) ⇄ Rome (FCO) – starting May 26, 2022, thought August 26, 2022
Spritz style drinks originated in Italy’s Veneto region in the late 1800’s and have exploded in popularity in recent years, with demand rising over the last year particularly in the United States.
Luc Bondar, United Vice President of Marketing & Loyalty and President of MileagePlus, said:
“Spritz cocktails have become synonymous with summer and offer a taste of Europe. Given the drink’s origin, we thought what better place to serve them than on board our flights to Italy. Our customers are going to love everything about these festive cocktails, especially the taste – one of the reasons we chose Spritz Society is their focus on quality natural ingredients.”
Spritz Society sparkling cocktails feature only six ingredients (or less) in every can and include white wine from grapes harvested in California. A grapefruit flavor will be available onboard.
In addition, Spritz Society cocktails will be available in select United Clubs (in both grapefruit and blood orange flavors) for a price of $2.00 each:
- Chicago (ORD) – May 6 – June 6
- Newark (EWR) – May 26 – June 26
CONCLUSION
For a limited time, United Airlines will offer complimentary spritz cocktails on flights between Chicago and Milan as well as flights between Newark and Rome. These drinks will also be available for purchase in United Clubs at ORD and EWR.
Have you tired Spritz Society sparkling cocktails? How were they?
Something tells me you’d preferred a Lavazza espresso made in a Miele.
Yes sir!
Is this United’s take on Delta’s (former?) practice of serving Bellinis in international (transatlantic?) economy class flights, in lieu of the initial full drink service?
I think DL still serves those.
Jerry really enjoys an A-Spritz, but I’m guessing these will be gross. You can buy Aperol branded RTDs, but I’m guessing these are much less expensive, and most of the people ordering them probably don’t care. What will be funny is if people order these in Polaris lounges.
I’d rather have Spirit’s “Buzz Balls”

Exciting news is that UA is planning to return 3 step Polaris meal service to all international routes on June 1.
Good news.
