United.com has just been switched off. Continental.com is now off as well. All phones lines this hour connect to a pre-recorded message welcoming customers to the “the new United” but stating that systems are down and agents are unable to assist. Thus, we find ourselves in a twilight zone between old and new, left only with a hope that when we wake up tomorrow, the new system will be better than the old.
E-certificates stopped working this evening, so I trust that the new United has a method to easily apply them online. Having to call Web Support to manually apply e-certs is not a palatable option. The united.com/appreciation site is also down, so it will be interesting to see if that reappears in the morning and whether compensation levels will be cut. Who knows what mileage and upgrade balances will look like in the morning–or anything else for that matter. We’ll just have to wait and see.

At 80K for 2011, I’m still listed at Premier 1K for 2012. For what its worth I printed out my 1K card.
The Continental website blows. Why did they kill united.com?
