United Airlines is giving away 1 million award miles to three travelers who share a particularly compelling photo or video from their travels.

Here’s how the #UnitedJourneyContest Works:

1. Select a travel photo or video

Do you have a favorite travel memory to share? Select your favorite photo or video from that trip, tell us why you chose it and where you would go with 1 million award miles.

2. Submit your entry

Enter the contest in two ways, 1) on social media by posting your photo or video to Instagram or Twitter using the #UnitedJourneyContesthashtag or 2) by clicking on the link below. Be sure to submit your entry by August 28th.

3. Winners announced

Our team of judges will select three winners (two photo winners and one video winner) who we will award with 1 million United MileagePlus® award miles. Winners will be notified on or around September 19, 2018.

You’ll need to do more than post a picture. The fine print states:

Upload photo or video and written description about why this Photo or Video represents your favorite travel moment and where you’d want to go on your United Journey to website, Twitter and/or Instagram to enter.

Five MileagePlus members who are active on Instagram have been chosen to be judges:

CONCLUSION

The contest runs through August 28, 2018. You are only allowed one entry per Instagram or Twitter account. I am thinking of submitting the picture below:

Oh my goodness! We can't wait for all of the places we'll be able to take Augustine over the years. ^CW

That just about sums the joy of why I travel.

I’m the doofus who doesn’t want to win 1M United/Mileage Plus miles.

    1. I would be forced to fly United all the time. Occasionally is fine but all the time is prison.

    2. I already have the problem of too little time to spend my miles.

    3. Tax liability

    100,000 miles I could use.

You could use the miles to book on 26 other Star Alliance airlines including ANA, EVA, Lufthansa, and SWISS. If you have too many miles, I’m happy to take some off your hands! 😉

I believe you mean ANA, but the point remains — never use United miles to fly United.

          Correct, I meant ANA! Thanks.

Thanks for the article. I read it again and see that a video is not required. A photo will do. Also thanks for the encouragement. I could use 1M miles! Business class awards burn miles quickly.

I once won a business class trip to London on BA because the requirements to enter the contest were too much trouble for most people. They later told me that they only got about 10-12 entries so the chance of winning was very high. The original winner couldn’t do it so I was chosen as an alternate.

Oh, it’s only for US residents :(( Should be open for Canadians as well! I already had plans for 1 mln miles!
