United Airlines is offering select New York residents a huge mileage bonus for flying United thru the end of June.
In an email that went out to select NYC-area travelers yesterday, United invited MileagePlus members to enter their MileagePlus number on this website for a unique offer.
Offers varied in amount but looked something like this:
Simply choose between two rewards, book your United travel and fly through June 25, 2017. The more you fly, the closer you’ll be to your personalized milestones.
Choose between these two personalized offers:
- Spend $1,500 for 30,000 miles…..spend total of $2,500 for additional 49,000
or- Spend $1,500 for 3,000 PQM ….spend total of $2,500 for additional 4,500 PQM
Register for this exclusive offer by June 16, 2017. Purchase tickets and travel from March 16, 2017, through June 25, 2017, and get closer to your reward.
Some on Flyertalk received offers as low as 10,000 award miles while others received offers as high as 167,000 award miles. Others received offers of free upgrades or travel credit in addition to miles.
It is not clear how United targeted customers. Not all NYC or Newark residents qualified and those who did qualify vary greatly in status and annual spending.

And that is understandable, since United is targeting NYC-based passengers.
CONCLUSION
I bring this to your attention because some reported they did not receive email invitations yet were still able to register for the offer. If you are in the NYC area and flying on United in the next few months, check the link and see if you are eligible.
