Sneak Preview of United Polaris Dining Menu

Matthew Klint Posted onAugust 5, 2016December 5, 2016 7 Comments

“240 new entrees. 96 new appetizers. 48 new salads.”

United describes its new Polaris Business Class menu as a “complete redesign of the culinary experience”. Earlier today, a group of FAs in Chicago had a chance to sample the food and I am hearing that everyone was impressed.

Sample entrees included:

  • seared turbot with beurre blanc sauce and fava bean risotto
  • lemongrass-infused chicken in coconut ginger soup
  • braised short rib with bordelaise and creamy polenta
  • shahi paneer with vegetable jalfreezi and basmati rice

No pictures from today’s event, but we do have these press photos below, including the beautiful new crockery and the Polaris new signature welcome, which apparently will be gourmet chocolate and sparkling wine in a real glass (UA currently serves pre-departure beverages in plastic, even in Global First). The food looks good and United will also have a “buffet” in the galley for heartier snacks between flights than what is offered currently.

I am looking forward to the launch of the Polaris soft product on December 01, 2016!

For anyone who has had to endure the same recycled garbage for the last decade in United Business and First, this new menu sounds simply amazing.

Anyone remember the deli sandwich from the bankruptcy days? They even served me that once in first on the premium LAX-JFK route!

Looks pretty good – hopefully it looks/tastes as good in the air.

Looks promising, though the devil, of course, will be in the execution. But at least UA is trying.

Rather amusingly america’s cold war nuclear missile’s were named polaris and in the UK polaris is ubiquitous with the nuclear missile program being the namesake of a class of nuclear subs Perhaps united will be going nuclear here, or is just all show no go?
