Did You Catch These Four Inside Jokes in the New United Safety Video?

Matthew Klint Posted onSeptember 21, 2017November 14, 2023 12 Comments

A new edition of the United Airlines safety video is out, highlighting once again United’s global route network. While not as humorous as past versions, the new video does contain a few inside jokes or “Easter eggs” that frequent United fliers will smile at. Did you catch them?

Here’s the video–

Here are the four inside jokes I noticed.

  1. “Nessie” (the Loch Ness Monster from the a green and purple aurora borealis in the sky
  2. The Kanagroo (also from the United 2017 Safety Video
  3. In the NYC Half Marathon, mom’s number is 787 while baby’s number is 737a woman pushing a stroller with a number on it
    a baby in a stroller
  4. “Lim” the flirtatious llama (from the a group of people at a marathon

What I like about this video is that it is not too long, not too short, and should at least be entertaining for the next several months a I try to scope out additional “Easter eggs”.

Did I miss anything? Let me know if you stumble upon any other inside jokes in the new United safety video?

At 1:41 the bag frozen into the block of ice looks very similar to the bags given to American Airlines flight attendants. You know “leave them behind.”

…Probably reading too much into it!

Starting at 2:18 you see an allusion to United’s new policy of using fire hoses to deal with disgruntled passengers.

I can’t stop watching the smile of the FA who says “thanks Oscar” to the CEO. Her jaw shifts like half an inch to her left when she goes from talking to smiling.

The lanterns rising up in the air create an outline map of the United States.
