Another Passenger Loses It In An Airport
The latest installment has arrived in a new reality of seemingly unending examples of passengers completely losing it either in airports or on planes. In the video below, an apparently middle-aged man completely and utterly nude is recorded beating his chest and singing as he struts around an airport departure lounge.
As many of the other passengers move away from the disturbed individual, he continues to move throughout the room. At one point near the end, he approaches another passenger, dressed in a suit, and throws a chair at him.

Finally, It’s Not An American
When this video came to my attention, admittedly, I was pleased to see that it was not an American embarrassing himself in this way. After all, it was just Friday that Matthew shared a video of a woman half naked with “no drawers” patiently standing in line at what was reportedly at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport.
It’s clear this incident took place in Tel Aviv, Israel. I can’t really explain why travelers are exhibiting such behavior and being generally weird in public, it does feel like this happens more in the United States than elsewhere. While the United States doesn’t hold a monopoly on passengers stripping nude, it does seem like there’s a higher percentage here, enough that some sites could be dedicated to people freaking out, melting down, and generally acting inappropriately solely when they travel. From seeing poltergeists to last Friday’s case of the woman casually waiting in line, naked from the waist down – it feels like it always happens here.
There’s a broader question to answer as to whether unhinged behavior, a) happens more often when traveling than not; and b) indeed happens more proportionately in one part of the world than another.
Conclusion
There’s little context to go on in the video shared on Reddit earlier this week. It’s hard to say what was going on before the video started, but it’s clear that the many is having a breakdown of some sort that included not only stripping nude in an airport but beating his chest, singing, and then lashing out violently. It’s not always an American involved but feels like it happens in the States more often. This case was in Tel Aviv, Israel according to the submitter of the video.
What do you think? Why does this behavior seem to happen in travel situations?
Disagreement over his carry-on bag . Surround him with a big net , wrap him up , and drag him out .
Meth raises your body temperature and one of the things that addicts do is try to cool off by stripping down.
I have commented before. I am in “the business.” Between 15 and 25% of the population at large have varying degrees of mental illness. This man is obviously quite psychotic. Just happens to be at an airport, instead of under an overpass downtown, and just happens to not be pushing a shopping cart.
There are wonderful treatments to cure and prevent this, but well meaning misguided people have made it virtually impossible to bring someone like this into treatment, even though this is obviously someone unable to make rational and informed decisions about whether he should or should not receive treatment. It’s an aberration that has evolved over the last 30 years… You know… All about personal freedoms, etc.
This poor man will have to live with having his illness disseminated around the world.
Very sad to watch this. Dangerous to him and others around him. How did he get as far as a gate? was he acting normal at the front of the terminal, through security, etc.? Airports are now becoming bus terminals. Traveling today is fearful to say the least.
