Family Matters: Wife Slaps Her Husband After Onboard Mask Tirade

Tired of her husband and his ramblings, a wife slaps him in the face as he rants about the danger of wearing a mask onboard an easyjet flight to Spain. He slaps her right back, prompting a renewed shouting match and a skirmish involving several passengers. It’s 2020…

All In the Family: Exasperated Wife Slaps Her Ranting Husband To Preempt Mask Lecture

The incident occurred on EZY1907 from Manchester to Tenerife last month. The flight itself was calm and  alcohol does not appear to be a culprit. Instead, the man apparently wanted to make a political point upon landing.

Warning the passengers around him to take off their masks, he yells:

“You’re all being lied to, the longer you wear them masks, the longer this goes on.

“I tell you what, God help you, the longer you wear those masks, God help you.

“I’m serious, get them off, get them off! Fight back!”

His wife then tries to calm him down and tells him to sit down. He responds by saying:

“Shut up you f***ing imbecile.”

She slaps him. He seems to take a seat, dazed, then slaps her back. Other passengers rush to her defense while a hapless flight attendant instructs people to remain seated over the PA system. Engaging with a young man, the old man says:

“I’ll fight you lad, I’ll smash your f***ing face in.”

Police were called and the man was escorted off. It isn’t clear if he was arrested. A spokesperson from EasyJet noted:

“EasyJet can confirm that police attended flight EZY1907 from Manchester to Tenerife on 6th September due to a passenger behaving disruptively onboard and refusing to wear their face mask.”

CONCLUSION

This isn’t a laughing matter in the sense that spouses should never slap one another. Still, it is yet another reminder of the new world in which we live. If I would have told you about this story a year ago you would have looked at me like I was crazy. Now such stories are commonplace. Welcome to our new world.

As concerning as this is on multiple levels (if he hits his wife this casually in public, what takes places behind closed doors?), as an American it is somewhat consoling evidence that we do not have a monopoly on hotheaded, belligerent imbeciles.

Wow, he really does feel that them masks does be a problem. Maybe he should have considered that before taking a flight that required him to wear one.

I know, honestly mask skeptics really under-utilize the whole driving or walking modes of transportation. They can be completed trouble-free without masks!

Really sad that incidents like this are happening all over the world. Very sad that there are people like this everywhere. 🙁

Pretty standard behavior for a bunch of Brits flying EZY from MAN.

Wow, even couples are fighting over mask wearing. What’s next? This stuff can not be over soon enough lest we all go completely mad.

If you thought that was rough, just imagine their sex life.

So it appears fewer and fewer folks can just “live and let fly” heheh — and so I’m still rubber-side-down rolling along here.
