Watch: Woman Runs Onto Tarmac At LAX To “Wave Down” Southwest Flight

Matthew Klint Posted onNovember 30, 2021November 30, 2021 22 Comments

One woman seemed to take her missed flight to an extreme, dashing though an emergency exit at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)  in order to “wave down” a Southwest Airlines aircraft.

Woman Attempts To “Wave Down” Southwest 737 On Tarmac At LAX

We can only speculate at this point what prompted the woman to burst through a secured door in Terminal 1 at LAX, run downstairs, out onto the tarmac, and wave down a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 still parked the gate…but that is exactly what she did.

Even as Southwest employees chased her down and held her, she continued to wave at the aircraft.

The woman was later escorted off the tarmac by the Los Angeles Police Department officers and has not been identified.

Tezlyn Figar, a witness who posted video on Twitter, seemed upset the woman was not shot or manhandled by police officers:

Wow, I’m sitting here at @flyLAXairport @SouthwestAir & this white young lady runs out the door & on the tarmac trying to wave a plane down. It seems like it took the police forever to get here. If she were Black, she would be shot (with no questions asked) pic.twitter.com/85IPXbnVi1

— Tezlyn Figaro (@TezlynFigaro) November 30, 2021

Holy exaggeration, Batman…

Her racially-charged griping continued:

I’m amazed at how GENTLE #LAPD is with this white girl that ran on the tarmac at LAX (federal offense) no weapons were drawn, they brought the firefighter for medical attention pic.twitter.com/LYkv1YiJks

— Tezlyn Figaro (@TezlynFigaro) November 30, 2021

Per Paddle Your Own Kanoo, an LAPD spokesperson noted:

“Airline employees who witnessed the woman exiting the terminal followed security protocols and maintained visual contact until the airport police arrived shortly thereafter and detained the woman.”

CONCLUSION

This wasn’t the first and won’t be the last instance of a passenger running onto the tarmac at LAX. While we don’t know the specific circumstances which drove her to attempt to flag the plane down, chalk this up as another data point that such tactics will not work. If you do miss your flight, it is best to have a gate agent rebook you…

Ms. Figaro has a point. A black man was killed over allegedly using a fake $20 bill, no need to be dismissive of her.

Yes, George Floyd was murdered. That doesn’t mean, “If she were black, she would be shot (with no questions asked).” What an absurd and unproductive leap in logic.

What utter and complete BS. I don’t deny experiences. I deny grossly broad generalizations that heap flames onto the fire of division instead of working toward the shared goal of eliminating racism. Shame on this woman on Twitter for her divisive comments and shame on you for your false characterization of the matter.

George Floyd resisted arrest to such an extent that he required restraint in a MPD-authorized prone position. Had he not been detained by police, he would have driven off while high on fentanyl. His death had nothing to do with racial animus. He was a criminal resisting arrest. What kind of person thinks that resisting arrest is a good idea? Perhaps someone crazy enough to go running on the apron of an airport? Someone who would commit armed robbery? Someone who would drive while high on fentanyl and try to pass off a counterfeit bill?

This response is to “Cargocult”, who doesn’t seem to know what the heck that he is talking about. His theory blaming George Floyd for his death, and supporting the use of the illegal restraint by the Minneapolis police, was all disproven at the trial of the cop (Derrick Chauvin), who was convicted of murder. George Floyd did not resist arrest. He was handcuffed, and placed in the back of a patrol car, with one of those protective grills, in a confined space. He was claustrophobic, and freaked out, and was screaming. I can understand his position, because after my car was rear ended by a panel truck some forty years ago, I had to sit in the back of a patrol car, along with the idiot driver, who was tailgaiting me, and failed to stop in time. Even though I was not at fault, and the other driver was given a ticket, I did not like siting in the back, of that patrol car, with the same metal type grill, in a confined space that George Floyd had to sit in. I should have sat in front.
Regarding George Floyd, Derrick Chauvin did not have to remove him from the back of the patrol car, and sit with his knee on his neck, and suffocate him to death. There was absolutely no justification for that, as he was already in back of the patrol car. The paramedics had been summoned, and they would have calmed Floyd down in a matter of minutes. It really irks me, when victims of police brutality are blamed by arm chair quarterbacks, who seem to justify the actions of these brutal, and despicable cops.

Radical Democrats and cancel culture strike again! They love pulling out the race card.

A few weeks ago Kamala Harris talked about how trees are racist and Mayor Pete talked about how roads are racist. No wonder their approval ratings are below 30%!

Will we truly ever be able to end racism when some minorities and leftists never miss an opportunity to use it? And actually Matt you didn’t help the situation by giving her more of a platform to spew his views.

Lock the lunatic up for her crime and move on. Nothing was “racist” about this moron.

This woman desperately need mental health treatment and the one tweeting needs to get a life. When a minority left tries too hard to claim racism in everything it will only make things worse for them. I am Hispanic and have darker skin then many of these people that keep with this racism BS and it is just a disgrace that they make everything about race. The more they try, the more it will go against them.

Enough with questioning the woman’s mental state – CRT suggests you need to dig deeper to determine if she is a white supremacist committing a racist act of oppression.

“One of the tools of white supremacy is busy-ness. This sense of urgency …”

This woman on the tarmac definitely exhibits a sense of urgency so she may in fact be a white supremacist committing a hate crime against an airplane of color.

The woman who ran through the door is DEFINITELY a white supremacist and DEFINITELY a Trump supporter….. she was probably even at the Capitol on January 6.

Also, ANY white person who commits a crime is now a white supremacist.
    Get a DUI?…..BOOM white supremacist.
BEAT that DUI in court?…..white supremacist/insurrectionist

Are you starting to understand how this all works now?

Matt, I often read your blog because I’m interested in stories related to the airline industry. I almost never comment and I don’t subscribe directly– it shows up in my Google news feed. I won’t be reading again. From one white man to another, it’s apparent that you’re trying to make a statement without making the statement directly, and that deep down you’re upset or insecure about this. But the evidence is overwhelming that people of color have to live with a lot more fear and contend with extreme reactions to their everyday actions by law enforcement, so although it’s a generalization that “were she not white, she would have been killed,” that sentiment is completely valid given the state of this country and its relationship with poc.

With respect, you are saying something totally different than what the woman said. Please examine yourself: how does such hyperbole advance us toward the progress we both desire?
