Redemption rates are changing (and mostly going up) tomorrow, March 25, 2025, in two different programs…it’s your last call to reserve Hyatt properties at prevailing World of Hyatt rates and your last chance to redeem United Airlines awards via Air Canada Aeroplan at fixed prices. Here, I want to focus on World of Hyatt redemptions.
2025 World Of Hyatt Category Changes – Last Chance To Book At Old Rates
March 25, 2025 is a big day…World of Hyatt redemption categories change, with many more (and premium) properties moving up in price with few moving down in price. In total, 151 Hyatt hotels are changing categories (118 moving to a higher category and 33 moving down). While you theoretically have until 9:00 am ET tomorrow, I would not wait that long.
Many of you have the World of Hyatt credit card and enjoy an annual free night certificate for a category 1-4 hotel. Tomorrow, the following hotels will move from Category 4 to Category 5:
- Hyatt Regency Newport Beach
- Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport
- The Bellevue Hotel (Philadelphia PA)
- Hyatt Place Fort Worth Historic Stockyards
- Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui
- Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya
- Hyatt Regency Tokyo
- Hyatt Regency Koh Samui
- Hyatt Regency Vancouver (Canada)
- Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile
- Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin
- Thompson Palm Springs
I’ve stayed in many of these properties and they are excellent. If you’re even considering visiting any of these hotels and using your points, book today…you can always cancel. I don’t really like the Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile but there is now no Hyatt hotel in central Paris you can use your free night certificate at.
Other notable hotels moving up in price:
- Andaz Peninsula Papagayo – Category 7 > Category 8
- Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills – Category 7 > Category 8
- Grand Hyatt Kauai – Category 7 > Category 8
- Grand Hyatt Tokyo – Category 7 > Category 8
- Park Hyatt Tokyo – Category 7 > Category 8
- Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht – Category 6 > Category 7
- Grand Hyatt Baha Mar – Category 6 > Category 7
- Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo – Category 6 > Category 7
- Hyatt Regency London The Churchill – Category 6 > Category 7
- Park Hyatt Buenos Aires – Category 6 > Category 7
- Alila Seminyak – Category 5 > Category 6
- Andaz Bali – Category 5 > Category 6
- Grand Hyatt SFO – Category 5 > Category 6
- Hyatt Regency Kyoto – Category 5 > Category 6
- Thompson Palm Springs – Category 5 > Category 6
- Alila Ubud – Category 3 > Category 4
- Park Hyatt Chennai – Category 1 > Category 2
That’s quite a hit for Tokyo…I just don’t have the time for a trip to Tokyo this year, but one of these days will return to the remodeled Park Hyatt Tokyo and also visit the Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills (and Kyoto and Niseko Hanazono).
Do I like these changes? Of course not…every year it gets a little worse. But kudos to Hyatt for continuing to publish award charts and for holding back, at least this year, in adding a Category 9…
