Through September 19th, Lufthansa is discounting transatlantic business class mileage upgrades.
- Full (Y or B) fare tickets can be upgraded for 20,000 miles per person each way, instead of the normal 35,000 miles.
- Discount G, H, M, Q, U and V fares can be upgraded for 30,000 miles per person each way, instead of the normal 50,000 miles.
This offer applies to all Lufthansa flights between the U.S. or Canada and Germany only. And just to avoid any confusion, you can only redeem Miles and More miles to take advantage of this offer, not miles from Lufthansa’s partner airlines.

Ouch — didn’t realize Lufthansa standard upgrades cost so many miles — copayment or not! Basically paying in miles what you would if you booked the ticket outright using the Star Alliance award chart of US carriers.
