Air Canada Introduces Lifetime Elite Status

Matthew Klint Posted onAugust 14, 2010 7 Comments

For those who have racked up at least 1,000,000 elite miles on Air Canada or Jazz flights, new benefits are coming your way:

  • 1 million status miles = lifetime Elite status (mid-tier, Star Gold)
  • 2 million status miles = lifetime Elite status for member + lifetime Elite status for a nominated partner
  • 3 million status miles = lifetime Super Elite (top-tier) status for member + lifetime Elite status for a nominated partner

This is a great way for AC to recognize loyal flyers and I am frankly surprised it took them so many years to create such an incentive.

In addition to the benefits above, all Aeroplan members who have accumulated more than 1 million status miles will receive a personally engraved wooden box containing a 777-300ER model, 4 upgrade certificates, 2 Maple Leaf Lounge vouchers, custom luggage tags, and a new million-miler elite card, all inside a very attractive booklet.

Other Star Alliance flights that have been credited to Air Canada do not count toward million-miler status. Only butt-in-seat (BIS) miles and class of service (COS) bonuses accrued on Air Canada metal count.
