Wow, my story about the closed “sex den” sauna in the Paris Air France Lounge really went viral…goodness, even Drudge Report picked it up. But with no sauna to pass my time, I ate a late lunch in the lounge and I have to give Air France credit for the excellent food.
Air France Lounge CDG: Excellent Meal Before Flight

I hear a lot of complaints about the food in this Air France lounge (Terminal 2E, Hall L), but I found it to be excellent. My lunch included:
- Free-range chicken with preserved lemon and ratatouille
- Cuttlefish with aioli, baby potatoes
- Provencal-style stuffed round courgette with fregola and ricotta
- Zucchini, goat cheese, and tomato quiche
- Pan-seared apricots with honey, rosemary, and speculoos
Everything was good: the chicken was of good quality (that’s a given, I guess, in Europe), the courgette was excellent, I loved the quiche, and the apricot dessert was the highlight…

The lounge has a live cooking station and the apricots were prepared there…with honey, rosemary, and speculoos (i.e. Biscoff cookies), the dessert was very delicious.

I was on a “reverse redeye” flight to New York on Air France that departed at 8:30 pm. I certainly wanted to sleep onboard, but I also left some room for the food, which is reliably excellent on Air France.
But my point here is simple: I think the food in the Air France lounges in Paris is excellent and whether you’re starting your trip here or just connecting, give the lounge food a try. And for those who make mischief, since eating in the sauna is no longer available, you’ll have to make do with the food in the lounge…

I must say, CDG terminal namings, numberings, letterings, and halls do get confusing. Terminal 2E, Halls K,L,M and 2F are all decent, good food, fine amenities, showers, etc. However, when I flew out of 2A/C, the Salon Paris (SkyTeam) lounge was just awful. They really gotta upgrade that thing.
I thought I read somewhere that these numbers/letterings are finally changing?
I recall Ben had posted about it, but I think it’s not until next year (2027).
That’s good news – it’s very confusing as it it. I wish it was also easier to transfer between “halls” without clearing security. It’s possible now via bus, but quite difficult (as I found out on this trip and ended up having to go out and reeler security when transferring from 2E to 2L.
“since eating in the sauna is no longer available” Do people really eat in saunas? I’m asking about eating in the traditional sense, not in the ways that may have caused the sauna to be closed…
I was making a joke…
I’m sure “sausage” is still available if you know where to look.
I’m sure you can still have a light bite in the shower suite.
Congrats on the viral coverage!
