My Nightmare About Airline Meals

Air Tahiti Nui Nightmare

If you don’t care about my dream, feel free to skip this post. But since it was about the most vivid dream I’ve had for as long as I can remember, I’m going to share it with you. You’ve been warned.

I was on a daytime Air Tahiti Nui flight in business class, happy to review the new 787-9. Meals service had begun and my main course arrived, looking beautiful. Oddly, it was Carbonara with bits of ham inside and macaroni noodles. I know, the perfect dish for a Tahitian carrier…

As the FA set it down, I took out my camera and began focusing to take the perfect picture. Suddenly, all the cabin lights went out. Being a Boeing 787, the windows were instantly darkened and locked, so I could not make them light. Even my reading light did not work.

With the cabin so dark, I was unable to take a picture of my airline meal. I signaled for a FA to come over and asked (begged) to turn back the lights or let me open my window just for 30 seconds.

“NO!” was the answer.

I woke up in a cold sweat an breathed a deep sigh of relief. It had all been a dream.

Every international flight I take is more an adrenaline rush than a chance to enjoy some peace and rest. I stress about getting the perfect pictures and choose to line up a like an idiot far too early to board just for those few unobstructed pictures available to the first passenger on the plane. And when it comes to seat assignments, I maximize seating to photograph airline meals…that’s the primary reason I choose window seats.

CONCLUSION

True story. Some people dream about love. Others money. I dream about airline meals and writing my next trip report…

that’s fine, I have a recurrent dream of being on a plane flying (safely!) in a city, between buildings, and taking off/landing from an airport inside a mountain!

You need a hobby that is not related to planes or travel and/or you need to diversify your income stream so its not mostly dependent on your blog.

The 787 is very safe plane with multiple backup systems, You should also have a flashlight option on your phone.

Time to expand you interests and income sources.

This was a message from your deep subconscious, that you eat too much meat ,and that the pasta dish would be more tasty in a tomato sauce without the ham. Consequently we look forward to more meat-free meal reviews in 2019.

Actually, that was a similar to my true life experience on Air Tahiti Nui, when I asked a flight attendant for more water, d, I kid you not, she shook her head “no!” and walked off.

Same thing happened to me in business. I asked for a wine different from the first glass I had. The FA looked disgusted said “pourquoi” (why?) and then simply walked away! Amazing!
