Alaska Airlines Copies United…In A Delicious Way

I’ve written before about how United Airlines essentially introduced stroopwafels to mainstream America. Soon you may be able to find these delicious Dutch treats on Alaska Airlines as well.

Stroopwafels Appear On Alaska Airlines

Stroopwafels are wafer cookies made from two thin layers of baked dough joined by a caramel filling. They first appeared the Dutch town of Gouda in the late 1700s or early 1800s.

Samantha Rosen reports that stroopwafels have begun to appear on West Coast Alaska flights. Rip Van Wafels, a Brooklyn-based stroopwafel company, is the chosen vendor.

She reached out to Alaska and was told that it is “exploring different snacks”. However, Rip Van Wafel told her they hope to roll them out on all Alaska flights later this year.

CONCLUSION

I’m glad to see Alaska at least trial stroopwafels on its flights. It is also nice that Alaska serves biscoffs…another favorite cookie which includes cinnamon, butter, and sugar.

In addition to United, you can find stroopwafels on American Airlines as well, but only in first class snack baskets. If you’re flying overseas, you can find stroopwafels on KLM and Icelandair.

Would you welcome stroopwafels on Alaska Airlines?

Way to go Alaska! I’m happy to see they managed to select a stroompwafel made with tapioca syrup and organic honey instead of corn syrup. For corn-intolerant individuals like me, corn-free snacks are always a welcome surprise.

I’ve actually encountered biscoff cookies in AA economy on flights leaving from MIA.
