Amazon holds their Prime Day once per year which offers Black Friday-level discounts on participating products. I wanted to share my picks for travelers from the offerings. This year Amazon Prime Day has been extended, starting at 3PM Eastern on July 16th ending midnight on July 17th.

Don’t Forget Price Protection
You can sign up with Earny for automatic refunds with price protection. But even if you already purchased something that is now on sale – you can still apply for your price protection benefit for items that are now on sale through Amazon. This should net us $70 on one car seat.
Amazon’s Own Products
I am an avid Amazon user, I have used Prime to deliver supplies to me on the road when traveling before. Here are the Amazon products I recommend and use that you might want to consider, most of which are offered at a tremendous discount this afternoon and tomorrow.
Included with your membership is free two-day shipping regardless of the order amount as is a slew of online memberships including Prime Video which I personally really value. You will need this to participate in Prime Day. If you are a student you can save some money and apply for this cheaper version of the full membership here.
Great deals on Kindles today, if you prefer to reduce your travel load the e-reader is lightweight, holds plenty of books and magazines and e-books are often cheaper than their paper brethren. Some have suggested that there are even cheaper ways to get a Kindle on Prime Day.
Kindle Unlimited – $9.99/month
This service acts like a Netflix of e-books and allows you to read unlimited digital copies for a low monthly fee.
I LOVE Audible. I “read” a book or two every week with the service. It’s easier when driving or walking through an airport and allows you to get through a book much faster than reading ever would. It also works with Whispersync which will hold your place in your Kindle if you want to turn digital pages once you get settled instead of listening. You can also trial the service free for 30 days and it comes with three free books, there is no cost if you cancel before the trial ends, the books are yours to keep.
Every Traveler Needs
Whether you’re a road warrior, a digital nomad, or a once-per-year traveler, these products should be a part of your packing list.
Portable Charger
Good
Aibocn Power Bank 10,000 – $10.99
Cheap and cheerful, if you’re a budget traveler or usually get to a power outlet within a few hours, this simple charger should keep you in good shape.
Better
Tronsmart Presto 10,000 – $22.99
This is a reliable charger that will get you through most situations and should bring high powered smartphones up from dead to a full charge. I like that it’s slim and fits anywhere.
Best
Anker PowerCore 26800 – $61.99
This one you will need to charge in advance. It charges overnight (just plug it in before you go to bed) at 6.5 hours from dead to full power, but the advantage is it is a supercharger and may last your whole trip. The Anker PowerCore 26800 will charge an iPhone nearly 10 times meaning that you may not need to charge it again until you come home.
Packing and Luggage
Key to any trip is having the right luggage and packing smartly. Here are a few choices for the best deals on Prime Day to help you get to your destination efficiently and in style.
Packing Cubes
Hynes Eagle Travel Packing Cubes (3 Pieces) – $16.99
I recently used these for a trip. They both compress your garments while keeping them folded and organized. I used mine to sort work clothes from personal clothes while keeping them all clean and neat.
Backpacks
I have used messenger bags, briefcases, and backpacks and found that a backpack is easiest to carry, holds the most and is perfectly acceptable for business purposes as well as leisure trips.
Great Value
At more than half off, this backpack is a great deal. There are easy to use charging slots, it stores huge 17″ laptops and looks great regardless of your purpose.
Excellent
Sosoon Ant-Theft Backpack – $32.99
This one is more focused on business travelers but has some great options and an excellent price point.
Best
Nomatic 40L Backpack – $219.99
This one is expensive but it reminds me of the GoBag. Both are water resistant but this one has some really smart compartmentalization that the GoBag lacks.
Power Strips
You might notice a theme, so much of my travel revolves around powered devices and hotels often lack the necessary plugs in the right places. Using a power strip maximizes space while also keeping your charging articles together. It makes for easier organization when you are ready to leave a hotel or Airbnb too.
Senseo Wireless Charging Stand – $14.99
This is perfect for most modern smartphones that wirelessly charge. What makes this one so great is not only that it’s lightweight and small, but also that it is a stand so charging your phone overnight at a bedside table allows it to remain close to hand, upright without complicating cords.
Power Strip with 3 USB and 3 Plugs – $16.99
What I like about this one is that you can charge up to six devices at once and it doesn’t have to be attached to the plug itself.
This is the one I personally use and do so because it is so small, has dual USB plugs on top in a convenient location as well as three outlets. It does plug directly into the wall so there is no
Translators
You can use Google Translate… as long as you have a connection suitable for sending the translation. Not everyone has an international calling plan and if you use T-Mobile’s free data when roaming it may not be fast enough to send and receive in a timely manner. Not to mention that not all countries (like China) are friendly with Google.
Cheap
fosa Smart Translation – $20.99
Just trying to get through customs? Toss this cheap and easy translator in your bag and sail through with ease. One way translation can be an issue, but this should get you through most situations and is the smallest available option.
Better
Aibecy Smart Language Translator- $79.99
Limited languages still cover more than half the world’s population but limiting the languages can be a good thing. It boasts greater accuracy than some of its lesser competitors and is nearly half off.
Best
This one offers 52 languages and has good reviews.
For Fun
Even if you are on the road for business, evenings without meetings can leave you time to yourself and looking for things to do. Here are a few choices that I like for keeping you occupied once work is done.
Cheap and Easy providing you all of the TV shows, Movies and Music you have from Amazon.
ROKU HD Streaming stick – $29.88
I prefer the ROKU because it offers more options for streaming including Amazon, Netflix and even the ROKU channel which offers lots of great movies with commercials for free.
ELEPHAS Portable Projector – $185.99
Yes it is expensive, but it’s also a lot cheaper than its listed price at $499.99 and cheaper than the price at which I bought my portable projector. The key benefits that make this an outstanding deal are that the projector goes up to 180″ (that’s 15′ diagonally), brightness is really good, and lastly, easy connections to couple an Amazon FireStick or Roku so you can watch your favorite TV and movies on the road.
Sandisk 128 GB SD Memory Card – $33.61
I use this for my camera and my DJI Spark drone. There are cheaper memory cards out there but Sandisk has made a great product in my experience.
MacBook USB-C multi-port adapter – $35.99
I paid about twice the price for this adapter which allows you to charge your MacBook, two USB devices, load in SD memory cards (both standard and mini size) and export your video to HDMI at the same time. I use it all the time, I am using it right now. I wish I had gotten it for this price.
Other Options
Tomorrow, Matthew and Carly will give their own take on Amazon Prime Day and will offer additional options as well as those that may remain after some of these sell out.
If you have found your own great deals on Amazon Prime Day that I have missed please leave it below in the comments.
Nice summary thanks!
