What Was My Seatmate Doing Under His Blanket On This American Airlines Flight?
Midway through my American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to New York, I noticed some movement in the suite across the aisle from me in row one. Mr. 1A had placed a blanket over him and was busy doing something under his blanket. I suppose he had a bad itch? This went on only for about a minute…whatever he was doing, he finished quickly.
These suites come with closing doors, but they have not yet been certified on American Airlines so they are locked in the open position…hence his only privacy became the blanket over his lap.

He got up a bit later to use the lavatory…he was wearing those Under Armour compression shorts that look like underwear…
I’m really not into voyeurism and I suppose this is another strike against these particular cabins on American Airlines, with herringbone seats that face away from the window, such that you are facing your seatmate across the aisle when seated. I could not help but to watch what was unfolding. I really had no desire to watch this but there was no way to avoid it…
CONCLUSION
My stories on Live And Let’s Fly have been more serious lately, but I hope you don’t mind this tabloid break since it was my seatmate on my flight…I guess the takeaway is that AA really needs to get those doors certified quickly because their premium cabin passengers have itches that need to be scratched…
Have you seen anything like this on your flights? Would you have just ignored it?

I actually that’s a habit or twitch like toe tapping or shaking of one leg. To do what you think he was doing and move both legs like that doesn’t make sense.
Agree. I often deal with RLS (restless leg syndrome), and sometimes just *really* need to move my legs. Looks to be something similar here, just some fidgeting IMO.
This guy was in his 20s. Could have been a twitch, but probably too young for RLS. This was the only time in the flight he did that…it wasn’t a frequent thing. And unfortunately, I had full view due to the layout of AA’s seats. His hands were under blanket.
Idk man I’m not exactly the greatest sleuth here but it also looks like only his legs are moving the blanket in the very short clip you posted.
“Could have been a twitch, but probably too young for RLS.” idk you’ve never seen a jumpy kid wiggle around in his chair?
Look I don’t really know what happened but from what you’ve posted I’m not seeing anything.
Idk man I’m not seeing it. Looks like only his legs are moving the blanket too. But you actually saw it and we only have 7 seconds.
>Could have been a twitch, but probably too young for RLS.
Ok, could he have just been jumpy? You’ve never seen a school kid pump his leg up and down?
I’m with the others here that I wouldn’t necessarily be convinced by the video, but I trust Matthew that he knows it when he sees it, especially since he watched the show for longer than what we’re seeing here.
I thought that was you, Matt. Say hi next time.
the entirety of the american left believes it is the civil rights issue of our time to welcome this man into women’s locker rooms if he says he feels like a woman
What a useless comment.
Well, if they’re not still giving the 5k miles or whatever because the door won’t close, at least you “got a show to watch”.
Did not receive any miles.
I mean I get it, he was excited to be on the new A321XLR. And isn’t this how we all christen new spaces?
