American Airlines Showers 777s On Miami

American Airlines 777 Miami

American Airlines is ramping up its Miami service, with dedicated Boeing 777 service on two key domestic routes and a plethora of widebody service to Latin America.

American Airlines Will Exclusively Run Boeing 777 Between Miami And Los Angeles / New York

Citing increased demand, American will exclusively run 777s between Miami (MIA) and New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX) this summer. A mix of 777-200 (two-cabin) and 777-300 (three-cabin) aircraft will be used.

This will be an added bonus to American and Alaska Airlines elite members, as the premium economy seats on both aircraft types are not sold as a separate cabin. These seats are similar in size and comfort to first class seats on narrowbody aircraft. Elite AAdvantage and Mileage Plan members, according to their elite status, can reserve these seats as early as time of booking.

Furthermore, all passengers will benefit from seatback screens behind each seat.

Cheap fares are still bountiful. While not quite the $31 one-way fares we saw earlier in the spring, one-way fares are as cheap as $50 (and these are not even restricted basic economy fares).

American Airlines Widebody Service From Miami To Latin America

In addition to the widebody domestic service, AA will upgauge a number of short-haul routes between Miami and Latin America with a mix of 777 and 787 aircraft. That includes:

  • 787-8
    • Cali, Colombia (CLO)
    • Guayaquil, Ecuador (GYE)
    • Lima, Peru (LIM)
    • Medellin, Colombia (MDE)
    • Port au Prince, Haiti (PAP)
    • Quito, Ecuador (UIO)
  • 777-200
    • Bogota, Colombia (BOG)
    • San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU)

While American’s international capacity will be down approximately 20% compared to the same period in 2019, it still represents a notable clawback over summer 2020 levels.

CONCLUSION

American Airlines will exclusively offer 777s between its Miami hub and its hubs in Los Angeles and New York. It will also add widebody service to several destinations in Latin America.

Do the twin aisle planes make you more likely to fly American Airlines?

It’s interesting, because 15 or so years ago, AA used to fly A300’s on most of those same Latin American routes where they’re now replacing 737’s with 787’s. So it’s back to the future, I guess.

The 878’s to PAP surprise me. I didn’t think there was that much demand. @stogieguy7 is right about the A300’s from Miami into the Caribbean and upper South America destinations.

This airline is and will always be….SHIT!!! No matter how many 777-200 or 300 ER series they deploy. No matter how many “changes and tweaks” they do to their inflight service. This airline will ALWAYS be Shit!! The condescending nature of their FA’s and prude nature of their ground staff is disgusting!! And appalling! And we the customer end up paying for this Shit!! No way, not any more!! This company is focused on its operations and bottom-line. It is a totally operational focused company!! The clients might as well go fuck off, because we are in their way!! No more!

Flew 777 from ClT to Miami on March 31. Originated in London and went on to Miami. Great seat but service was a joke. They announced before we ever left the ground there would be no service at all. I was in FC and finally asked if I could have something to drink which she complied with but man that’s cbeap

    What an oddly expressed title.
