American Airlines Rolls Out “Spring Flavor Awakening” In Admirals Club Lounges

American Airlines is rolling out new seasonal menus in its network of Admirals Club airport lounges, another sign that it is taking seriously its commitment to invest in its premium product.

New Spring Menus In American Airlines Admirals Club

The new dishes rolled out at select Admirals Club lounges starting on March 5, 2025 and will be available across all US and Canada lounges by March 17, 2025. New menu items include regional specialties focusing on fresh ingredients. AA also promises a “fresh array of premium spirits in lounges, along with new mixers and non-alcoholic options.”

Here’s what you can expect:

Lounge The breakfast spread The all-day spread
Austin, Texas (AUS) Maple strawberry chia overnight oats Roasted jalapeno hummus
Boston (BOS) Banana caramel bread pudding Honey miso shrimp, vegetable yakisoba, crispy onions, hoisin sauce and scallions
Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT) Mixed berry French toast Sweet and sour pork with pineapple, brown rice and quinoa, toasted sesame seeds, scallions and chili crisp
Chicago (ORD) Mediterranean breakfast egg scramble Green goddess cabbage feta salad
Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Cheddar omelet fold with chipotle chimichurri sauce Argentina beef empanada with roasted red pepper chimichurri
Denver (DEN) Maple strawberry chia overnight oats Honey mustard pork loin with spring onion and sage
Los Angeles (LAX) Roasted tomato feta breakfast wrap with salsa verde Orange peel tempura chicken with roasted red pepper and onion
Miami (MIA) Scrambled eggs with parmesan and tomato Build-your-own tacos with spicy chicken, roasted veggies, soft tortillas and shredded cheddar
Nashville, Tennessee (BNA) Southwest salsa verde breakfast wrap Edamame shrimp teriyaki with carrots and water chestnuts
New York (LGA) Build-your-own breakfast slider with egg patty and cheddar cheese Fig and balsamic chicken with caponata brown rice with mozzarella, walnuts, lemon wedges, garlic chips and crumbled blue cheese
Philadelphia (PHL) Raspberry chia pudding Chickpea edamame salad with mint and lemon
Phoenix (PHX) Turmeric blueberry quinoa salad with cashews Southwest bean salad

What a shame I live in LA (I am not a fan of tempura chicken…).

AA may not have dedicated grab-and-go lounges as United has in Denver and Houston or Delta has in Atlanta, but it will add more items specifically intended for guests to take with them:

  • Darlington Oatmeal Bars
  • Realsy Peanut Butter Dates
  • Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Wildway Granola Snack Pack
  • Outrageously Good Caramel Cheese Popcorn by Everybody Eats

Yum…

CONCLUSION

AA has struggled to find a strategy and stick to it over the last several years. Ex-CEO Doug Parker was a genuinely nice guy, but I think his peers Scott Kirby at United and Ed Bastian at Delta really knew how to run an airline and he did not…he left Robert Isom a mess.

As an Admirals Club member via my Citi AAdvantage Executive Card, these improvements sound genuinely like an upgrade…and this is important as fares go up and the competition is also getting better. My hope for AA is that this is the tip of the iceberg and we will see a renewed emphasis in quality both on the ground and in the air.

The onboard product is changing too…I’ll address that separately. This is a good start.

“ Chickpea edamame salad with mint and lemon”

Who comes up with this garbage? Philly recently had Roast Beef Hoagies (Subs) as a local flavor. Nothing about this says Philly, hopefully they have other decent options for the non hippies that make up their customer base.

Dallas recently had a pork BBQ sandwich as the local flavor, was very good for what it was. This is type of stuff we need more of, not Roasted Hummus for some random from the Middle East flying through Austin.

All I can say is the last time I was in the Sky Lounge at FLL, the two items that went the fastest were the pizza and mac and cheese. Go ahead and offer the kale-quinoa hipster chow, but give us normies something, as well.

I think that’s quite fair and I think AA will do so…at least I hope so.

A positive step in the right direction! A lot of the items on the menus sounds very tasty. Happy to see they’re striving to provide a more premium experience.

But will it appeal to dogs in the lounge?

I would not want to be behind one that ate the chickpea edamame salad

True… BUTT (pun intended), I’d prefer that than pay higher taxes to fund more medical care for the increased heart disease, diabetes from the already obese Americans … lol

Stupid question: do Admiral’s Clubs actually cook their food on-site, or does it arrive pre-made in a plastic bag a la Chipotle?

I suspect nothing is made on-site beyond being warmed up.

And they will serve the same dish 7 days a week. The current dish “sausage ragout” looks like dog food.

I agree with you. The lounge should offer iceberg lettuce wedges, topped with crispy bacon, fried onion rings and blue cheese crumbles creamy dressing.
