An American Airlines flight from Charlotte to Las Vegas turned chaotic last week after a passenger boasted of trying to kill her father with rat poison, assaulted flight attendants, and was ultimately restrained in flex cuffs and duct-taped to her seat. And it got even more pathetic when the cops showed up…
American Passenger Detained After Threats, Assault, And Duct-Tape Restraint On Flight To Las Vegas
The passenger, identified as 47-year-old Ketty Dilone, was on AA Flight 2470 from Charlotte (CLT) to Las Vegas (LAS) on September 16 when she began acting disruptively in the aisle. She filmed other passengers despite being asked to stop and shouted death threats at crew members, warning them, “I will kill you b***h!”
What Got Into Her?
- Dilone allegedly attacked a flight attendant, kicking her twice (once in the leg and once behind the knees), causing the crew member to fall.
- To restrain her, crew used flex cuffs and then duct tape, first on her torso, then on her legs. The tape was applied to prevent her from sliding out as the aircraft moved.
- During the kerfuffle, she also made statements about using rat poison to try to kill her father (“So if anybody wants to kill somebody, put rat poison in it, but make sure it’s not expired and make sure you put a lot of it, because it didn’t work for my daddy. He just fell asleep.”)
- Law enforcement met the aircraft in Las Vegas, where she tried to kick and nite police officers (forcin them to put a mesh cover over her head).
- Dilone faces at least two federal charges: interference with a flight crew (49 U.S.C. §46504) and assault by striking, beating, or wounding (18 U.S.C. §113).
Watching these videos, it is hard not to think that drugs or alcohol were at play, perhps mixed wih some perscrotoin drugs, were at play. What else could prompt such nasty behavior other than a demon?
Here she is mouthing off to a flight attendant (warning NSFW):

Kudos to the police for not slapping her face…
CONCLUSION
What an absolute disgrace. This woman managed to humiliate herself, terrorize fellow passengers, and create hours of unnecessary drama for crew and law enforcement. If she really did try to kill her father with rat poison, that alone is beyond comprehension, but to then attack flight attendants and police officers only confirms that she represents a danger to society. Drugs, alcohol, or demons…whatever the cause, there is no excuse for this kind of behavior. I hope the courts throw the book at her. At the very least, she should never step foot on an airplane again.
Hat Tip: View From The Wing
Remember when Sara Nelson was considering flight attendants being armed with tasers? Scenarios like this make you think she was on to something.
Also are we have a Scrabble day?
Can’t make this stuff up! Hoping she won’t be on any future AA flights.
Geeze! Too bad gagging isn’t allowed. Trying to “squeeze blood from a turnip” isn’t going anywhere, the airlines should 1: file suit for any costs incurred (they might not get much but garnish any wages) 2: ban her for life from flying on the airline. I doubt that the government could or should interfere but the airlines themselves should share banned passenger information. Ban the perps on one airline…ban them on all flag carriers.
This country’s true pandemic is from mental illness. It is a plague that has been getting worse and worse, yet we never address it directly. If anything, popular culture enables it. Here’s yet another example of the illness. It’s everywhere.
Yep … and ‘social media’ and ‘television’ cause a significant percentage .
Totally true (agreed) in my comment below.
An airline ban has a variable effect. For us, it would be terrible. For others, it would be like a ban on traveling by nuclear attack submarine to us.
Absolutely drugs and/or alcohol. Mental illness is only an excuse most of the time to cover up for these. A deeper dig would probably show she doesn’t travel much, booked a trip to Vegas and started partying way too early. No justification but it happens often, just not to this extreme…..before landing at McCarran (yea, I know) anyways.
As someone who flies to Vegas 6-8 times a year minimum I see it often both ways. Just as bad is the drunks leaving Vegas trying to find their gate and running late to it. Luckily they usually pass out quickly once on the plane and other than snoring don’t bother anyone.
I’m still in a no 2nd chances in cases like this for a minimum 10 years on any domestic carrier.
Re flying out of Las Vegas. I knew a flight attendant who advised never to take the first flight out of Vegas in the morning. People stayed up all night drinking and the insider’s nickname for those flights was “v*mit comet.” I once took a morning flight from SFO to Las Vegas, the return leg of one of those early morning flights, and the seat cushions for four seats had been removed and it wasn’t due to snoring.
Proof read? Nah, why bother.
Hahaha it’ll be a cold day in hell before that happens
What a sad world we live in. I agree it’s alcohol, drugs, demons but whatever the case it feels like half the population is mentally ill. So stressful to see and hear these people, very scary that they will attack or injure other people. Really, how can any government or authority reign this in and prevent it. They can’t. Public travel is a danger to society. One can only hope they are not in the wrong place/ seat/ train/ plane/ subway next to some nut-job. This will never be controlled; ie, the subways of NYC are nothing but a moving homeless shelter/ mental institution – encouraged by politicians and social workers, etc there who see the criminals as “disadvantaged” and need to be coddled and protected. Everyone else be damned. Someone/ something needs to bring back brick and mortar mental institutions. I guess, I’m the crazy one for thinking this would ever happen again. My husband’s motto — “Nobody gets out alive”.
