American Airlines will open a 600-room hotel in Fort Worth next year, but the public will not be allowed…it is for employees only.
Skyview 6, A New American Airlines Hotel In Fort Worth, Texas
The so-called Skyview 6 hotel is set to open in early 2023 at a cost of $250 million. The 600-room hotel will be adjacent to AA’s Dallas – Fort Worth campus and be available for employees like pilots, flight attendants, gate agents, and even regional affiliates who may be journeying to corporate headquarters for meetings or training.
In a memo to staff reviewed by Live and Let’s Fly, American Airlines explained:
“We’re hoping to simplify team members’ visiting experience by building a modern hospitality complex at the heart of our campus. A place where visiting team members can lodge, eat, socialize and work out.”
The hotel will include:
- art installations
- lounge areas for studying
- “the tavern” for socializing
- dining room offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- 73,000-square-foot fitness center, including:
- exercise pool
- basketball courts
- pickleball courts
- volleyball courts
- tennis courts
- 10,000 foot ballroom for large meetings
Currently, a 300-room hotel dating back to the 1960s (primarily used for flight attendants) stands on campus and will be closed
Each building on campus is numbered “Skyview” and the new hotel will connect via a bridge to Skyview 5, a training and conference center.
This seems like a smart move to me. Why pay for lodging, meals, and other expenses at other hotels when you have the space and the means to create an environment of your own? The AA campus is quite busy and I would imagine that there will always be a demand for hotel rooms and meeting space.
Furthermore, the availability of a beautiful fitness center creates an incentive for employees to come to the office, promotes preventative healthcare, and is frankly a great perk.

CONCLUSION
American Airlines is opening a new hotel, code-named Skyview 6, on its Dallas – Fort Worth campus. The 600-room, $250 million project will open in 2023. It appears this is one hotel that Live and Let’s Fly will not be able to review…but let’s see what happens.

Quick correction: the old hotel was closed several years ago and razed in order to make room for the new one, which occupies (more or less) the same plot of land. For the time being, crew members in town for training are staying in other hotels in the area.
Finally,a place where AA can serve their catered food menu and receive honest feedback. The standard response to housekeeping and maintenance issues could be the hotel exists for your safety primarily.
LOL, but it’s a good point – let the employees be guinea pigs for the food served onboard.

Maybe the hotel will be feel like the Americana hotels of the 1970s, the last time American Airlines was in the hotel business. I bet the current management team had no idea.
The Tavern: Socialize with your friends over a bottle of $2 wine or a couple of Miller Lites, while calming those hunger pangs with a delicious build-your-own taco bar. If you’re lucky, they might even be doling out heaps of “fresh” guacamole.
