Review: American Express Centurion Lounge Buenos Aires (EZE)

I found the American Express Centurion Lounge to be the best lounge in Buenos Aires’ Ministro Pistarini International Airport. It’s worth a visit.

Arriving at 8am, I had the lounge to myself for 30 minutes. Compare that to the crowded AMEX lounge across the USA! Even when I left an hour later there was only two other people in the lounge. The lounge does get more crowded in the evening. Access is granted on a complimentary basis for Platinum and Centurion (Black) cardholders.

I figured I might have an issue since my AMEX card is USA-based, not a card issued in Argentina, but I was welcomed in. Upon inquiry, Plat and Centurion cardholders from around the world are granted access.

The staff was extremely friendly and when they saw I struggled with my Spanish (though I did try!), they welcomed me in English without the slightest hint of pretension.

Walk past the welcome desk and you’ll find nooks and crannies of seating literally as far as the eye can see.

Vibrant colors and white stone floors give the lounge a bright and cheerful look. There is a special section, a little room I understand, for Centurion cardholders which I did not gain access to.

Also available: computers (iMacs), telephones, and a children’s playroom.

One disappointing feature of the lounge is that it lacked showers. There were clean restrooms, but not even a single shower stall.

Of the three lounges I would visit in EZE (Star Alliance and Aerolineas Argentinas being the other two) food was by far the best in this lounge. There was no hot dishes and food really just was snacks, but the quality was higher. Breakfast included peanuts, raisins, crudités, sandwiches, croissants, bread and drinkable yogurt. Unfortunately, the coffee wasn’t great.

CONCLUSION

This is a fine lounge at EZE, the best in my experience. While you might not be satisfied if you’re very hungry or want a shower, it’s a great place to wait for your flight.

Matthew, I’m always curious what out of country AMEX lounges are like. Nice review and thanks for taking the time to get in there and report back.

Umm… did they open it just for you? There was nobody else there!

EZE is quiet in the morning. Most longhauls go out at night.
