For years I’ve been flying in and out of Pittsburgh International Airport and it was only recently I took a wrong turn and found the coffee shop I had missed for so long.
Best Coffee – Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)
Note to self: it is useful to check out airport directories.
For so long, I simply assumed Pittsburgh Airport simply did not have great coffee. There’s The Strip Market in the Center Core, but the coffee there is only marginally drinkable (La Colombe).
But recently I took a wrong turn down the B Concourse and found Joe & The Juice. What a delightful find!
Joe & The Juice is located airside in Concourse B and open daily from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm. I don’t typically fly the carriers that operate from this section of the airport and never had reason to go down this hall…but now I do.
The coffee was wonderful, particularly the strong cortado.
I also tried a “Joe’s Green Mile” with:
- Apple
- Avocado
- Broccoli
- Ice
- Lemon
- Spinach
A very refreshing drink indeed.
I will now make it a point to always stop here when traveling through Pittsburgh Airport. It truly is like night and day compared to the coffee in the American Airlines Admirals Club or “The Club” Priority Pass lounges.
And the irony? There is usually no line here versus the Starbucks with lines out the door…
Sound familiar? Joe & The Juice is also one of my favorite coffee shops at San Francisco International (SFO).

There’s also one in Copenhagen at Kastrup Airport.
“I will not make it a point to always stop here when traveling through Pittsburgh Airport.”
I feel like the word “not” needs to be removed from that sentence…
As a Pittsburgh resident, I am glad to see the slow recovery of our airport after Covid. The huge new landside terminal will be finished in 2025 and I am looking forward to that (no more tram). The food options are better but the shopping in the center core needs to come back. It’s not SFO, but it does the job.
I’m based in Pittsburgh(PIT). After reading this, I’ll definitely give it a try next time when I fly from PIT!
As long as that TGI Fridays is there and doesn’t replace the 1980s interstate rest area tile, all will be at equilibrium.
I’ve seen this chain (Joe & the Juice) in the Miami Brightline station recently. I think there were so many Gen Zs working on resumes inside nobody else could enter.
I’m fine with the free coffee in the Admirals Club, but that’s just me. Not even sure what a cortado is other than it’s one of the few words the big city millennials moving to South Park (on the realtor episode) utter on repeat. “Bottled water. Bottled water. Bottled water. Uh huh. Pilates? Pilates. Bottled water? Tesla, we have a Tesla. Wi-Fi. Uh… cortado. Bottled water. Cortado. Tesla. Oh, cortado? Wi-Fi! Metal bottled water. Cortado.”
This is a chain from Northern Europe I believe. Was probably empty because that juice was $22.
Coffee’s Good, but we’re all different. I like to have my coffee AFTER my flight so I don’t have to use the bathroom / Lavatory inflight. That includes eating anything. (They should have the coffee bars at the baggage claim, LOL).
