During my layover in Singapore, I did leave Changi Airport and spent a few hours visiting a couple of places I had never seen before during prior visits. First, I stopped on Sentosa Island for some great coffee.
Best Coffee On Sentosa Island, Singapore
SINJim, who is a regular commenter on this blog, has been a friend for many years and picked me up at Changi T4 after I visited the Cathay Pacific Lounge. From there, our first stop was Sentosa Island. It’s posh. It’s rich. Singapore itself is such a wealthy city-state, but this is one of the nicest areas of the nation and one of the few places with prime waterfront real estate.
We stopped at Common Man Coffee Roasters, located in the Quayside Isle dining area of Sentosa.

Common Man is a chain of coffee shops in Singapore, but it’s no Starbucks or Costa. Specializing in finely crafted coffee and brunch, I quite liked the dining room motif. It was crowded too…often a good sign.
Menu:
My flat white hit the spot…strong and bold in flavor, yet pleasant.
I had just finished a bowl of laksa or else I would have ordered some breakfast, which looked quite good. The flat white was SGD6.50 or $4.83.
After coffee, I had a walk through the W Singapore – Sentosa Cove, located next door. It looked quite nice and the grounds and common areas were perfectly maintained.
This will be a regular stopping point on future trips to Singapore.
Hey Matthew, thanks for another interesting coffee, location review. Would you please write something about all of the wonderful coffee shops across the globe that you have discovered? It would make for an interesting book as well. Looking forward to it. Thanks for what you do.
I love your coffee posts.
They have served me as a guide when I have traveled to places you have been before.
Funny note, because one of your posts I found about Teco in Guatemala City… my own home.
