Great Coffee In Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda

I had planned to find “great coffee” at every port stop on our cruise, but I struck out in St. Lucia, Guadeloupe, and Antigua and Barbuda. Thankfully, I found a wonderful coffee shop in Spanish Town on the British Virgin Island of Virgin Gorda.

I noticed a coffee shop called MOKA Cafe that was a short walk from the shore and on the way to The Baths, which was our final destination.

Indeed, it was a short walk of about a mile from the docks where our tender alighted to MOKA Cafe. It was a very hot day, but I brought a sun umbrella along…

The coffee shop air conditioning was turned way up, so it was nice and cool inside. I ordered a flat white and Augustine ordered a fresh-squeezed orange juice.

Great coffee…even with superb latte art. Augustine enjoyed his OJ, though I don’t know why it was necessary to add ice cubes…

Baked goods and a menu of food options were available for purchase, as well as several varieties of sparkling water.

Next, I’ll talk about our wonderful time at The Baths near Devil’s Bay…the highlight of all of our shore excursions on the cruise.

Fellow coffee lover here. Do you drink drip/filter coffee? If so, it’s very easy to pack a travel set of coffee brewing tools, where all you would need is a kettle at your destination. Just need a collapsible silicone dripper cone, some filters, a small scale, beans, and a small sized hand grinder (which are really good now in the $70 range). Very easy to fit between clothes in a carry-on sized suitcase/bag.

I do drink filter coffee (pour-over style), but prefer espresso. Typically my day is two flat whites or cortados in the morning and one in the afternoon. I do have a small grinder, which I have brought on some trips before.

We are long time Virgin visitors and as soon as I saw the building, my first thought was “oh no, they didn’t walk did they?” I should have known better!

I look forward to the Baths report. Augustine is the perfect age for that place. If you get back to VG again, check out Spring Bay.
