I got the midnight munchies in Seattle (no pot or other controlled substances involved) and headed out in search of some Mexican food…and found some great tacos.
Delicious Mexican Food In Seattle
Seattle is not as diverse as other major cities, but offers a cosmopolitan blend of restaurants. The city has many great Mexican restaurants, but the city also seems to shut down a lot earlier than my hometown of Los Angeles. Thus, when I got hungry around midnight finding a place to eat was no easy task.
I considered doing Postmates or UberEats, but by principle, I do not use this service in the USA so I restrained my search to a walkable radius around the Hyatt Olive 8 where I was staying. I found a place that was open late called Fogon and headed out around 11:15 PM without calling ahead.

Street tacos are three for $12 with choices including:
- Lengua– beef tongue in salsa verde
- Carne asada– grilled skirt steak
- Al pastor– marinated pork grilled with onions and pineapple
- Pollo– marinated grilled chicken breast
- Carnitas- braised pork
Each is made with hand-made tortillas, and topped with onions, cilantro, and salsa, with lime and radish on the side I ordered a carnitas, carne asada, and pollo taco.
I took the tacos to go and walked back to my hotel room. The restaurant has a large dining room and bar plus an outdoor eating area, but it was a cold, misty night and I prefer not to sit in restaurants when I am alone.
Back at my hotel, I unwrapped the food and dug in…still warm and very delicious.
It was the prefect midnight snack and makes me want to return for more…even now.
Love that place. I used to go almost every weekend. Nowadays a couple of times per month. They also have a great and very cheap happy hour menu for food and drinks.

I prefer not to eat food from a single-use foil container.
I don’t know if this is a corporate chain, but if not it’s pretty hard to judge them for not using more sustainable packaging. If this is a small business you need to chill and realize that they may not have the resources or ability to order these things in large quantities so as to apply pressure in pricing.
I am a small business owner with a shipping department. I would love to use more sustainable packaging products but the reality is that they are so expensive as to be unattainable for us. As well, most are controlled by ULINE (sadly a company owned by a major Trump supporter) which complicates things further. We have few options for ordering anything in that we are not at the level of a major corporate level to be able to pressure pricing. Nor do we have other options for getting supplies quickly and more cost effective.
Everything is connected. Be a bit patient with those who are actually fighting the system as best they can while not relinquishing the entire world to large corporate control.
To be fair, Seattle is probably more diverse than Sofia, Malmö, and Melbourne
My fave taco spot in Seattle – Tacos Chukis!
The Seattle area has some of the best Mexican food in the country. Its just not well known. Perhaps not within walking distance of Matt’s hotel, however.
