How is Biman Bangladesh Airlines in Economy Class?

Matthew Klint Posted onMay 25, 2017November 14, 2023 4 Comments

My last-minute ticket home meant I was stuck in economy class for the 2hr flight from Bangkok to Dhaka on Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

Business class was sold out. That’s a shame because it was only about $100 more than economy. Oh well, let’s fly Biman economy class…as one does on the way home from Bangkok…

I’ll post a more formal flight review, but let me emphasize it was far better than I thought. Far better.

The 737-800 not only was brand new, but very clean. Legroom was tight, but bearable.

The IFE system was advanced. There were only about 20 English-language movies, but I appreciated how responsive the system was and loved the intuitive layout.

Meal service choices were chicken or mutton. I found the chicken to be tasty and nicely spiced.

Biman is a dry airline so only soft drinks and waters were offered.

Passengers pushed and shoved a bit during boarding, but overall it was an orderly process. The flight left Bangkok 30 minutes late but landed roughly on time in Dhaka.

CONCLUSION

I would not have flown economy class on a longer flight, but Biman Bangladesh Economy Class was by no means a bad experience. In fact, the experience sure beats a slimline domestic seat where you have to pay for an unhealthy snack.

“I would not have flown economy class on a longer flight” is not a good statement to make about a 2 hour flight. It makes the speaker sound like a spoiled elitist. What class do you think the majority of your readers fly?

I was referring to Biman, not air travel in general.
