Breaking News from US Airways (Humor)

Matthew Klint Posted onJune 6, 2012December 9, 2016 3 Comments

You’ll never believe what I just heard from US Airways reservations! Let’s join a conversation already in progress:

ME: That’s right–South African Airways, SA. The airport code is Juliet, November, Bravo.

AGENT: Oh great, thanks–that’s not one I know, since US Airways doesn’t fly there. Now where again is that flight going?

ME: To Munich.

AGENT: Have you got that code?

ME: Mike, Uniform, Charlie.

AGENT: Great! You know the problem is my system here. We’re getting a new one soon. Now it takes me hours to search for flights.

ME: Really? Will the new system allow customers to search for Star Alliance space online?

AGENT: No, we’re holding off on that until later.

ME: Why?

AGENT: Well, we’re merging with American soon and that is going to open the door to a lot of additional places. I am so excited about the merger.

ME: But it hasn’t been finalized yet–it’s not even close.

AGENT: Trust me, sir–it’s happening. And it’s going to be great!

ME: But won’t you lose Star Alliance, thereby going from an Alliance with 25 airlines to one with 11 members?

AGENT: Not at all! American Airlines will be joining Star Alliance.

ME: Really?

AGENT: Oh yes. We all love Star Alliance and US Airways is committed to remaining in the Alliance.

ME: Does American know this?

AGENT: Sure, we’ve made clear to them that they will become part of Star Alliance. Now, where were we? Oh yes, Hamburg. Where’s that?

ME: In Germany.

AGENT: Oh wow! I didn’t know that. Do you have the code?

ME: Hotel, Alpha, Mike.

AGENT: Great, thanks…

Proof positive that you should always take what a US Airways reservations agent says with a grain of salt…
