With two young children and very busy schedules, date nights have been elusive for my wife and me. We decided to to take one night and travel to Paris, which made a lovely getaway and demonstrates the relative ease of travel within Europe.
Date Night In Paris – The Ease Of Travel Within Europe
Paris is where my wife, Heidi, and I spent our honeymoon (our unofficial one, anyway…we ended up taking a proper honeymoon to India and the Maldives over a year after our wedding). Neither of us speak French, but still find it an amazing city full of beauty and history.
While Paris is generally crowded with tourists in July, with corona measure still in place, we did not experience the crowds that make it far less pleasant.
We returned to the Park Hyatt, which I will review tomorrow, which is centrally-located and still one of my favorite hotels in the world. A first for me in many stays, I was upgraded to a suite and we enjoyed our time together in the room.
But we ventured out as well, enjoying a great walk through the city and the entire afternoon at the Louvre Museum. Neither of us had been inside the museum for over a decade and we loved it…I will post a photo essay, as I took many photos inside. What a difference a few years makes in terms of art appreciation.
We had lunch at The Louvre, splitting a salad and salmon quiche.
In the summer, sunset occurs as late as 10:00PM in Paris, which makes evening strolls so pleasant.
We had dinner at a restaurant called Mori, which offered delightful Italian food and was located within walking distance of our hotel.
Despite staying up late, we slept in and had a relaxing leisurely morning and late breakfast.
And that was that…we had one appointment which we took care of, then it was back to Paris Gare de l’Est for our train to back to Mulhouse.
CONCLUSION
Our trip to Paris was short…but sweet. I love little getaways and was so thankful my wife and I could get away, even, if just for one night. I could spend weeks in Paris, but one night is better than none…
This is part of my summer in Germany trip report.
I did one within a 12-hour layover! Saw Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees, Eiffel Tower, Champ de Mars and the outside of the Louvre and Notre Dame (it was just months after it burned), and ate at a random streetside cafe.
It was essentially a trailer preview of a proper Paris tour, and I will have to come back to do a more thorough visit.
Nice report! It’s so funny that you ate at Mori, one of my favorite places to go to in Paris is a tiny lovely placed called Bar Italia. I’ll also have to check out the Park Hyatt. I’m going to try the Hotel Lancaster the next time.
Sweet! Love central Paris. Like the Mall in DC just down the street
Last trip we stayed at the Westin Vendome and had a grand time on hubby’s retirement trip
Safe travels
That’s such à touristy experience… who goes to Mori a wannabe Italian fine dining.
It was good. Recommended by PH GM himself.
Where was the Ferris wheel located? It was in the Place de Concord last we visited in November 2016. I swear we walked by it on our current trip but husband now doubts me ; ) settle a bet and share the coordinates
Was in Jardin des Tuileries.
