I will be in Washington, DC next week for the annual Freddie Awards and thought it would be a great opportunity for a reader meetup in one of my favorite cities in the nation.
Live And Let’s Fly Washington, DC Meetup – Next Saturday (April 29th)
Spencer Howard (Straight To The Points) and I will be hosting a meetup next Saturday afternoon which provides an opportunity to hang out and talk miles, points, and travel (I’ll try to avoid topics of politics and religion despite being in the District). It will be great to meet readers in the area in a low-stress environment.
The meetup will be Red Bear Brewing Co in the trendy NOMA area near Union Station and Gallaudet University. You can easily reach it on Uber or on the Metro Red Line.
Key Details:
Saturday, April 29, 2023
2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Red Bear Brewing Co
209 M Street Northeast
Washington, DC 20002
You can sign up on EventBrite here (and please do so we have an idea of how many are coming).
I wanted to meet at the historic Round Robin Bar at the Willard Hotel, but I suspect there will be more attendees than can squeeze into that small area.
Let me know in the comments section if you can come. See you there!
Wish I could come but that’s the day I’m returning from my trip. Hope that it’s a good one and I can make it next year.
Sweet, look forward to meeting you!
Glad you can join! See you there!
Stuart and I will be there. Looking forward to meeting Spence and all of my favorite LALF bitches.
Yay!!!
Look forward to meeting y’all!
I will attend if both Santastico and Fantastico come.
Wish you would do one of these in San Francisco 🙂 Have a blast!
@Matthew, I think meeting readers is a great idea, with that said, more than weeks notice would be nice for those who don’t live in D.C.
Don’t worry, this is intended for locals. Over time Kyle and I will hold reader meetups in other cities.
West Coast?
I also think it’s a great idea, and I also would love to attend, and I also think more than a weeks notice would be nice and I’m already booked to travel to Washington DC for the FTU the following weekend.
I’ll miss speaking at FTU this year!
Awesome! I’m 24 and have gotten so much value from this blog (and others like it). Very much looking forward to all the conversation.
See you there!
Let’s do one in London next time you’re around?
Sure!
Ich würde teilnehmen, wenn Sie versprechen, zu verraten, welches Haustier Sie für Ihre Kinder bekommen.
Nein, wir haben kein Haustier und ich will kein Haustier.
“No pets for us!”
“I’d participate if you promise to reveal what pet you’re getting for your kids.”
I’ll be there for sure! Really looking forward to it!
Glad you can make it!
See you there.
You bring the soy.
Now you’re learning! Bravo! Also sadly I won’t be able to make it but I look forward to mocking you to your face some other time.
Oh wow. My work colleague’s husband owns Red Bear. I’d go but I’ll be out of town! Have fun great venue.
You can’t get rid of me that easily Matthew, so I’ll see you there!!!
Hey Matthew,
Planning to be there and looking forward to meeting you.

Looking forward to chatting!
Dang it! Just returning from a work trip and don’t think I can swing by DC for this. Would have loved to attend!
I will be there.
Mr. Justice! Excellent.
Round Robin for evening drinks… love that bar…
Nothing like a Mint Julep at the Willard.
Wish I could make it but will be in Maui… if you do one in LA, Denver, or Chicago I’d definitely be there.
We will do one in LA at some point.
Just an FYI, the DC Metro will be doing track work on 4/29 and 4/30 so Union Station and NoMa stations will be closed on the Red Line.
Hmmm. Thanks for the update. Uber it is, I guess.
Mr G is right. Can’t trust Metro in DC. Ugh
Brisbane Australia? :p
Regrets but def interested in a meetup! Happy to host in Maine!
the one year I’m not in DC for History Bowl Nationals y’all are doing this big meetup, sadly can’t make it but if you ever come to New York or Boston would love to come
I am at the venue, but there’s a lot of people and no signage.
