Flight Attendant Busted For Stealing Jewelry At DCA Security Checkpoint

a woman with a serious face

A Republic Airways flight attendant from Florida was allegedly caught on surveillance footage pocketing jewelry at Washington National Airport. She has now been charged with grand larceny.

Flight Attendant Arrested, Charged For Jewelry Theft At DCA Security Checkpoint

The incident purportedly occurred on Monday, October 3, 2022. A post on the popular Washingtonian Problems account on Instagram shared the problem:

“My mom has [TSA] PreCheck and was at DCA this morning. They made her take off her jewelry at TSA and someone stole it! They ran the tapes and it was a freaking flight attendant!”

An update was later provided:

“Just heard they arrested her on the plane when she got back to DC from a Florida flight!”

Crime doesn’t pay, even in a city filled with criminal politicians, lobbyists, and other assorted undesirables.

Fox 5 Washington, DC reports that Rebecca Valley, 60, of Wesley Chapel, Florida, was indeed caught on tape stealing a bracelet set from an airport security checkpoint. She has now been charged with grand larceny, which can be classified as a misdemeanor or felony and punishable by a prison sentence of up to 20 years.

Flight attendants in the news for stealing from passengers may be rare but is not new. Four years ago, a passenger reached her destination, began to exit the aircraft, then realized she did not have her cell phone. She was not allowed back to her row, but a FA agreed to search for it while she waited outside the aircraft door.

The FA returned, stating she could not find it. Dejected, the passenger went home, likely concluding another passenger had stolen it.

But then something funny happened. About a week later pictures started appearing on her iCloud account (Apple’s cloud backup tool). And not just any pictures…but pictures of the FA!

Not the sharpest knife in the drawer…

CONCLUSION

Let this be a lesson to all of us that crime does not pay, but especailly not an airport. That’s like trying to steal chips at a casino. Look up! Look around! There are cameras everywhere and Valley is now facing a heap of trouble.

Speaking of odd theft, we’ll have a story up later today about a more recent and very curious case of a mobile phone theft on American Airlines. Stay tuned.

Florida again, smh. They’re not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems and they’re bringing their problems to us. It’s time to build a wall around Florida

What more does one expect from a citizen of the state of hate, the state of stupid, and the state of foolish people who believe they can turn a swamp into a state on the cheap. Lock her up!

What this woman did was loathsome. But there are people who try to steal others’ belongings while going through TSA. Almost had my bag stolen in front of me by someone at LGA just two weeks ago.

No surprise. There are many thieves in the airline industry. I mean if security will steal from a family with little ones going to Disney world….

She made a bold move and thankfully was caught. Also this type of flagrant theft probably indicates she’s gotten away with it before. Anybody missing something?

Why the American Airlines tail pic attached to this article? She’s a Republic Airlines FA.

Singapore airlines needs to show that mug shot in their advertisements. No one would fly a US carrier again

No surprise. Regional flight attendants are paid so bad that they often times qualify for food stamps. You get what you pay for

Look up “Florida” in Merriam-Websters and you’ll find Rebecca Valley’s pic next to it. Perfect personification of what that wretched place is all about.

Just be aware of the fact that when you are removing your personal items, they are at risk of being stolen or missing and are at risk of not being found. I once left an old laptop in a bin (however useless without the security USB). Luckily I went back and it was still there. And Hold your passport in your hand.

Let’s get an update. The FA often wears multiple bracelets and accidentally picked up the passenger’s jewelry. When she realized it, they were in flight. Upon arrival at DCA, her plan was to return it to TSA but was arrested at the plane. The charges were dropped because the owner of the jewelry could not provide a receipt showing the value. Instead the jewelry owner provided a receipt for a bracelet that was similar but not the bracelet that was accidentally taken. So the FA was forced to retire because someone was irresponsible with their cheap jewelry and filed bogus charges.
