Delta Air Lines CEO: Trump Administration FAA Cuts Won’t Hurt Airline Safety

Appearing on CBS News, Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian claimed that the recent job cuts at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) would not impact Delta or the safety of the airline industry and heaped praises on the Trump administration.

Delta Air Lines CEO Lauds Trump Administration For Promises On Safety, Supports FAA Cuts

In an appearance on CBS Mornings on Wednesday, Gayle King asked Bastian, “Do those cuts worry you and do you think that impacts safety?” She was referring to the 400 or so jobs that were slashed over the weekend at the FAA, which Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy defended as non-essential personnel, arguing, “Zero air traffic controllers and critical safety personnel were let go.”

After saying “the cuts do not affect us,” Baistan added:

“I’ve been in close communication with the Secretary of Transportation. I understand that the cuts at this time are something that are raising questions, but the reality is there’s over 50,000 people that work at the FAA. And the cuts, I understand, were 300 people, and they were in non-critical safety functions.

“The Trump administration has committed to investing deeply in terms of improving the overall technologies that are used in the air traffic control systems and modernizing the skies. They’ve committed to hiring additional controllers and investigators, and safety investigators. So no, I’m not concerned with that at all.”

You can watch the interview here:

He also talked about compensation for the passengers onboard the Delta – Endeavor Air CRJ-900 that flipped over upon landing in Toronto, which I will discuss in a separate post.

I have new-found respect for Ed after (a) he approved $30K immediate payments to those on the upside-down Toronto flight , and (b) his correctly using the word “affect” in the above sentence “the cuts do not affect us” .

The television moron , on the other hand , used the jargon word “impact” , when she asked “do you think that ‘impacts’ safety” ? Listen to television and lower your standard of spoken English .

And another moron on the same network will lower your standard of history , with her claim that Freedom of Speech led to the Holocaust .

If you believe the evil moron in office then you’ll be in for a big surprise. I don’t see how pissing off our allies and most of the world (apparently not Russia, our fricken enemy) is going to benefit American travelers across the globe. This blog is about travel isn’t it? You’ve lost the small minds that you have trump thumpers! p.s. Ed Batian is looking forward to all the tax breaks that he will personally be given.

I’m with Bastian. After all, less people making things safer will lead to more safety, right? Just like having less police lowers crime. This is “An Enhancement” and Bastian is selling it just as hard as if it was another Skymiles devaluation.

I am sure they’ll invest in airline safety as part of the next Infrastructure Week. Can’t wait.

OMG almost 400 bureaucrats have lost their jobs and all the airplanes are going to crash!!!!!

The 49,600 bureaucrats still there can’t possibly save us!!

Clearly, it’s gonna be a long four years for some of you. I’m gonna get some popcorn and watch Mr. Klint keep stirring the pot.

I give it six months before the explosion between the musk and trump. Some of these workers make your life better, very sorry for pointing this out. No need for you to be nasty.
