Delta Air Lines has filed a lawsuit against Delta Pets, a fraudulent pet transport website that portrays itself as part of Delta but has no actual relation to the airline.
Open the website and you’ll immediately see the iconic Delta logo in the front/center and a Delta 747-400. It looks to be a website for Delta’s pet transport program.
The website includes a telephone number and email address. There’s even a special “Delta Dash” option that sounds too catchy to be make-believe.
Click on “About” and you’ll taken to a page that shares the history of the Delta.
But there’s one problem…it’s all fake. A scam.
The site — DeltaPetTransit.com — is designed to look like a Delta site and uses the airline’s logos and pictures of its planes, Delta said in the lawsuit, filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Georgia. But the site isn’t affiliated with the airline and has no right to use its trademarks the complaint says.
…
The site is being used “to advertise bogus pet air-transport services and to dupe intended victims into believing that they are dealing with Delta and are tendering pet shipment-related payments and fees directly to Delta,” Delta states in the complaint.
There are some subtle giveaways. The company address is listed in Simi Valley, Nevada. No such city or town exists. The 24757 zip code doesn’t exist. Even the (554) area code is not used in North America.
Furthermore, on the “about” page we also find some odd language like–
Holisticly monetize empowered processes after leveraged resources. Phosfluorescently impact enterprise-wide platforms after future-proof niche markets.
…the sort of language is usually used as a placeholder like lorem ipsum (which also appears on the site).
So what gives?
Is this a disgruntled Delta employee? A practical joke? Or a true scam?
Whatever the case, Delta is taking the steps to get the website shutdown. The owner has protected his or her identity so well, Delta is simply suing John Doe…
CONCLUSION
If you’re thinking about shipping your pet on Delta Air Lines, steer clear of deltapettransit.com.
Wouldn’t it be faster to hire a hacker/cracker and take down the site rather than ongoing legal battle against an anonymous entity?
That’s what I’d do…
But then they won’t get a kickback from the lawyer thay hired to file the claim. Hahahahaha……
