Is there no privacy anymore? Not on an airplane in economy class when you are sending racist text messages about your seatmate in full view of her on a Delta fight to Atlanta…
Racist Text Messages On Delta Flight…About Your Seatmate While She Is Watching
As in so much of the travel experience, there should be no expectation of privacy. But let’s play this out and be honest…you know you’ve been in this situation. You’re sitting next to someone and you are indeed trying to mind your own business, but then all of a sudden your seatmate pulls up something on his phone or laptop that you cannot help but to notice. Maybe a dirty website. Maybe a document stamped classified (yes, this has happened to me). Perhaps a text message on the phone where the text is blown up 3x because of poor eyesight.
You cannot help but to notice it…
And then you notice it is about YOU. Well, then you cannot take your eyes off of it.
This happened to a black woman on a Delta flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) to Atlanta (ATL). She noticed that the man seated next to her in the middle seat was writing disparaging remarks via iMessage, complaining about the “black and queer” people onboard.
She then decided to confront him:
Woman: “I want you to know that I saw your text messages, and I think you’re disgusting.”
Man: “What text messages?”
Woman: “I want you to know that I know. I saw you, and I think that you’re disgusting”
Man: *Silence*
Woman: “Maybe if they raise prices, maybe you wouldn’t be able to afford to sit with your family, that way they don’t have to sit next to black people.”
Man: “I’m sorry.”
Woman: “You’re sorry because I saw it.”
The woman also posted some void on Twitter:
@taila.thecreator Sitting next to a racist on my four hour flight from Puerto Rico to Atlanta this week. Yes I could’ve minded my own business, but why should I let him slide? I happened to glance over and see the words “big black woman” so I continued reading. He and his family went on and on about the woes of being stuck sitting next to Black and gay people. Then I see this man say he hopes airlines continue to raise prices so these people get weeded out. If you’re gonna be bold enough to pull your phone out in the middle seat of an airplane and freely talk disrespectfully about Black people, then I’m going to be bold enough to say something to you. What would you have done? #traveltiktok #racistoftheday #racistencounter #airplanedrama #travelingwhileblack #blacktravelfeed
@taila.thecreator Replying to @TXSM9999 This comment is exactly why I did what I did. I started recording after reading more than one racist/homophobic remark…At this point the text was for me.
@taila.thecreator Replying to @mamamimi1976 He wouldn’t even think in my direction when the plane landed. #racistsinthewild #airplaneencounters #blacktravelers #embarrassed
CONCLUSION
As View From The Wing noted, the man “had two hours to sit there, just sit there, and know he’d been made small – by precisely the woman he’d thought was somehow less than he was.”
So true. The problem is not that he was caught or that his privacy was violated, but that he harbored and likely still harbors such thoughts in the first place.
The woman said, “Yes, I could have minded my own business, but why should I let him slide.” Hopefully the end goal is not simply to make him look bad, but to help show him the error of his ways.

When you write racist posts on your blog, expect your readers to notice.
Did I miss something on Sunday?
Huh? I see no racism in the text that I saw. Just a comment about sitting next to a “huge black woman”. That’s racist now? Was it pretty uncalled for, sure. But we have got to stop throwing around labels unnecessarily.
If I sat next to you on a plane and was texting about the guy next to me faking a disability to not have to wear a mask you’d probably be upset too
Go….. Yourself, you ignorant prick.
Excellent
Lol.
Speaking of living rent free. I might bring a futon.
This was probably one of the snowflake trumpers that post here. Why act so sheepish when called out? I thought you guys were so proud of your thoughts on race
See Matt, this is really uncalled for. The topic had nothing to do with politics, but here bob is making it about that.
I said trumpers. That’s not political. Trumpers are members of a cult, not a political party
I would say google the definition of irony, but I’m sure you would get lost.
Oh yeah what cult am I in? I say if the bums can get any dirt on biden or hilary that sticks then charge them. Ever hear a Trumper say the same about their messiah?
“Teacher! Billy Bob is being political!”
You misspelled “a piece of monkey excrement not befitting of even being thrown.”
God you’re a precious (and intellectually dishonest) little snowflake clown. You may think you’re being clever. But everyone on here knows what that text means. It’s clear why it’s racist. Take your act elsewhere. Decent people are conversing.
Go cry more and fill your diaper baby. “Wahhhh, monkey excrment…wahhhhh”.
Awe, it’s fun to see all the little partisan packrats come running from their sewer holes to defend their hiveminded buddies. Congrats Roberto, this Buds for you.
I thought you all was proud of the ignorant way you think also
For those defending the guy who sent the text messages, if his objection was sitting next to a big woman, he would’ve said “big woman.” He didn’t. Further, in his narrow little mind, black people can’t afford expensive things. Which is why he hoped prices would keep rising. That had nothing to do with her being a big woman. Clearly, his only objection is that she is black. Kudos to her for calling him out. Racists don’t deserve protection. Or other people making excuses for him.
It’s not making excuses. It’s being factually accurate with what is presented. Taking a “ticktocker” at face-value for, or, against anything is a terrible proposition. Anyway seemingly “Right leaning” has been labeled as a “racist” for the last decade and it’s not reasonable. It’s just annoying. No, the guy isn’t right in what I *specifically* saw he stated. But what *I saw* wasn’t racist. Was there more to it? Maybe, *WE DON’T KNOW”. It could have been an embellishment. Geez. I’m not sure if people have always struggled with objective analysis, or if this is a new phenomenon. This reminds me of the Karen that was fired in NYC for “being racist” due to someone being mad at her not picking up after her dog. She wasn’t *right*. I do not know, as do no one else here, know if that person is racist. Period. Claiming so makes you no better than them.
Sounds about right.
Thank you. I frankly don’t think folks want to talk about this stuff and would rather talk points and miles, but there’s also a baseline of human decency. If you’re saying you don’t want to sit by someone bc they are black or poor, you’re being a racist. That is just a fact.
If you can’t be a decent human being, then there’s no point talking to these people.
Thank you, reeeeeee, reeeeee, reeeeee. Decent people, hahahaha. Yeah, and the sun is cold and water is dry. Go on with your bad racist self.
Finally, someone who really saw what it was! It’s obvious of the racists that are commenting claiming that dude wasn’t being racist.
Simply to make him look bad is a perfectly acceptable reason.
I can’t blame a person for not wanting to be forced to sit inches from someone for hours that he or she has nothing in common with. Historically, various groups stuck to their own communities and flourished in happiness amongst themselves. The root cause of all the problems is people being banned by government from creating their own airlines, schools, businesses, and housing that are exclusive to their own community so no one is forced to be with who they don’t want to be with. This issues comes up with the orthodox Jewish community who has difficulty with men sitting inches away from some random women in skimpy clothes or against Jewish custom. If the Israeli and western governments didn’t ban it, I’m sure an orthodox airline would be formed by people who want one. The same applies with other groups as well.
These videos are always one side and start after the action has already occurred. What did this woman do to this man or made him feel uncomfortable or offended for him to complain in a private communication about her that we of course didn’t see? We often watch videos where one name calls a group but the video started after one was physically attack or harassed out of nowhere and is now blamed despite being a 100% innocent victim.
Some people and groups just don’t get along. Forcing them together is wrong, unnatural, and a crime against humanity.
Offspring of incest is a crime against humanity but here you are
What is the reason for not wanting to learn about other cultures instead of believing stereotypes that have been created to spread discourse among society? Not all people want to be simple-minded. Living among the vast cultures promotes civility among citizens.
So, you think segregation was the answer? So, you are also a racist? How do you feel keeping people according to their race, they should be separated?
He was texting that ish in full brightness too, lmfao. This is actual “caught in 4k” material right there.
In public places people can see your phone. Inside commentary is outside commentary if it’s on a bright screen.
Apply the same courtesy and awareness to audio.
Since when is describing the person seated next to you, racist?
When they use words like, these black people, black people need their own way to travel, I don’t want to sit beside blacks, stuff like that, really simple
So the woman was reading someone’s texts which is already rude and shows a lack of proper upbringing and decorum and then gets upset about an accurate description? Live and let live.
She sounds like a person who is constantly looking for situations to be a victim. It must get tiring.
I find this an interesting topic that I actually have experienced in the terms of privacy on a plane. Especially when it comes to saying something… I have two experiences in which I also have questioned what is the right thing to do? Especially because I am minding my own business but see people doing questionable things.
First – a kid was taking selfies and posting them on Tik Tok. Totally fine. But then I noticed I along with a few other passengers were in the background in a selfie… Okay, it happens… He then proceeded to put love hearts around each persons face. It is not about the love hearts BUT now he is highlighting each person in the picture and bringing attention to them. Again, minding my own business but now I see what he is doing… I was not asked to be in his picture or asked for it to be posted… Was I in my right to ask the kid to take it down? What is the procedure?
Second – as passengers were boarding a flight a seatmate was taking pictures of under age children boarding. I am not going to divulge into the types of children he was choosing to take pictures, as no matter what they were underage. He was taking pictures of their faces. What do I say/do in this case? Again, minding my own business but I noticed. What is the procedure? Do I have the right to say something?
Bob you are probably one of those of Trump cult supporters you are in denial man you not real you fake human being I want be surprised that you are racist you think you being smart but it’s showing your lack of intelligence plus your true color man
Posting these type of articles because you have nothing better than to post. I get it.
