Don’t Waste Your Money on US Airways Power-Nap Sack

Matthew Klint Posted onJanuary 12, 2010November 14, 2023 1 Comment

A few months ago I purchased a US Airways Power-Nap Sack (overnight kit) on a redeye flight from LAS-PHL. It cost $7 and included:

  • an inflatable neck pillow
  • earplugs
  • eye shade
  • fleece blanket
  • $10 off SkyMall coupon for purchases over $50

The only reason I bought it was for the neck pillow and I did find the pillow useful in aiding my slumber on the flight and on another redeye I took after Thanksgiving.

Sunday night I pulled out my neck pillow before my redeye from LAX-IAD, blew it up, and placed it around my next. I closed my eyes and leaned back, only to feel the air rushing out of it.

Upon examination, two large holes had opened up at the seams. I know the kit was cheap, but I only used it three times!

If you are ever on a US Airways flight and have the opportunity to buy this kit, do yourself a favor and save your money. Just spend the couple extra dollars on the ones at airport newstands or treat yourself to a nice one at Brookstone.

I bought one three years ago and STILL use it without issue.

Just because you got a bad one doesn’t mean its not worth the $7 for others.
