A Fun Day at Emirates Headquarters

Matthew Klint Posted onAugust 18, 2017November 14, 2023 3 Comments

Ben was excited at breakfast yesterday. “Do you want to go to Emirates HQs today to work?” he asked. Uh, that’s like asking me if I want an upgrade to first class. Of course! I figured Ben had a connection, but nope…it’s just one of the best kept secrets of Dubai.

Emirates Headquarters is located adjacent to DXB airport and open to the public. Not all of it, of course, but a great canteen, Costa Coffee, and a cool Emirates gift shop.

We set up shop at Costa Coffee, spending several hours working and people watching. As Ben shared, there is something so cool about looking left and seeing a fleet of A380s, looking straight ahead and seeing a group of uniformed FAs enjoying a cup of coffee prior to a trip, and looking right and seeing Emirates employees enjoying lunch: some in suit and tie, others in thawbs.

An “official” Emirates gift shop is available, offering a huge selection of Emirates-branded items.

Everyone assumed we worked for Emirates, proactively offering us discounts at both the coffee shop and gift shop.

CONCLUSION

I was so thankful to be introduced to one of my new favorite places in Dubai. It’s a great place to come and people watch, stock up on avgeek-friendly gifts, and even to be productive…I knocked out my blog posts from Emirates’ HQs yesterday! Even the coffee is good.

We’re going back today…

I’m really hoping that cappuccino cost is in Dirham and not 19 bucks for a coffee
