A Family Lunch In United Polaris Lounge LAX

Matthew Klint Posted onAugust 26, 2023November 13, 2023 5 Comments

Unsure of how the onboard cuisine would be ahead of our trip to London, my family enjoyed a nice lunch in the United Polaris Lounge at LAX. This lounge really is a value-add to flying United and Star Alliance business class.

Family Lunch – Polaris Lounge LAX

I’ve reviewed this lounge before and my review remains unchanged: this is a solid lounge that never seems to be crowded and offers excellent a la carte cuisine.

In my experience this year, the United meals in business class are getting better and are certainly edible. Nevertheless, my wife and I figured we would break our fast in the lounge so we showed up a bit early for our 12:55 pm flight to London in order to dine in the Polaris Lounge.

We ordered three items and all were very good. It is tough to impress my wife, but she really liked the food, so much so that she has mentioned how much she is looking forward to returning to this lounge.

Mary’s Organic Chicken Breast

The chicken was moist and tender and both the risotto and the asparagus were cooked perfectly.

Pan-Seared Pacific Coast Salmon

Delicious. Really delicious. The salmon was moist and the beans provided an excellent accenting flavor.

Asparagus, Spring Pea, And Green Bean Salad

My wife in particular loved this salad and if we had more time, would have had a second portion.

It was a joy to see my daughter Claire Marie get so excited to see the airplanes (the lounge offers great apron views). I need to bring her back to the airport for a father-daughter day of planespotting.

All things considered, the Polaris Lounge network really adds to the value-proposition of flying longhaul on United Airlines or another Star Alliance partner in business class.

Nice choices better than the hyped Qantas F lounge at LAX.

At least the lax lounge you have a decent shot at sit down afternoon dining, vs SFO, EWR, ORD, and IAH that are useless and why it’s so important to have a full proper quality onboard meal available.

It’s refreshing to hear positive things about a US lounge. I think that your time was well spent. I look forward to further posts about travel. Thank You-

Was at ORD Polaris lounge last week and was a 3 hour wait for the dining room, total joke.

Nice comments. Did you take any photos of the complete menu? It’s changed since your review in March

Haven’t been in this lounge yet, although the regular United Club there is very top quality (certainly higher than the one we just experienced at SFO in the international terminal that was once the First Class Lounge, but looks like time has passed it by). In other words, I don’t view the United Club at LAX as slumming it.

That said, I love the Polaris Lounge in Newark. Bar, buffet and a la carte. Best burger I have ever had in an airport lounge anywhere.
