Own A Piece Of The First Airbus A380

Singapore Airlines was the launch customer of the Airbus A380. It also was the first airline to retire an A380. Now you can own a piece of that original aircraft.

The A380 is nearly 14 years old. Its maiden test flight was from Toulouse in May 2006 and the first model was delivered to Singapore Airlines in October 2007. That month, Sydney launched the inaugural A380 flight from Singapore to Sydney.

10 years later, Singapore retired its first A380, 9V-SKA, after a flight from London to Singapore in June 2017. The aircraft was returned to the lessors, Dr. Peters Group, where it was later sold to Tarmac Aerosave for scrap metal.

Aviationtag, a German company known for making collectible keychains from actual fuselages, has created a limited edition set of 7,000 tags to commemorate the first A380. The cost is EUR27.95 each. You can buy it here.

“Each of the limited edition tag sports the aircraft type, registration number, edition number and size.”

The key tag is a reminder of the short life of the A380, which was either the wrong plane at the wrong time or just ahead of its time, depending upon your perspective.

“That month, Sydney lunched the inaugural A380 flight from Singapore to Sydney.”

RIP Sydney airlines. Guess it lunched high capacity flights too fast

    Was it 2007?

I think you mean it was first delivered in 2007, not 2017.

      That was fixed earlier.

There is another site (https://planetags.com/collections/commercial-aircraft) that also offers these bag tags from fuselage skin. They don’t currently offer an A380, although they have most other types you’d want. But what I like about them that I didn’t see with the one mentioned in this post is that they will engrave your name/address/phone# on the reverse side of the tag. Also, I was not charged shipping for the 747 tag I ordered.
