Review: Gabfol Lounge Lagos (LOS)

Matthew Klint Posted onJanuary 18, 2017November 14, 2023 1 Comment

I escaped the Oasis Lounge due to poor internet connectivity, hoping the Gabfol Lounge would be better. It was.

Approaching the entrance, I first thought this was a South Africa Lounge. In fact, I presented my economy class boarding pass and Star Gold card and was admitted — no Priority Pass card necessary. Opening hours on the PP website state from 6:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. but a sign on the lounge door indicated a 5:30p opening.

The lounge was packed when I arrived, though cleared out when a boarding call was made for the South African flight.

I sat down and pulled out my laptop to connect the internet. Thankfully this lounge had faster speeds than the Oasis Lounge. A woman brought me a plate of doughy balls that had just come out from the deep fryer. I asked her what it was and she said, “Puff Puff”. Indeed, that is the name.

It was as greasy as it looks, but I ate a couple and admit they were tasty.

On the lounge website, additional food options are described–

We offer full meals – from both local & international array of choices, to all who are members here in GABFOL LOUNGE. From pasta to Jollof rice, grilled chicken to fish stews, our kitchen is bound to set you off on a gastronomical journey with our Thai, English and African selections, you will definitely enjoy this and every trip you make!

I still was not all that hungry and did not order anything from the menu. The food was not complimentary.

This lounge supposedly has a spa, but it was closed.

CONCLUSION

Again, nothing worth arriving early for, but it was nice to have functioning internet. In retrospect, this could have been a lounge within a lounge, though I did not see a larger area.

All the lounges at LOS are mediocre, I would not touch any of the food that is not shrink-wrapped. But at least you can get a beer or a coke, and some escape from the unwashed masses.
