Hyatt Place Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport Review

With an 8:00 pm arrival and a 6:00 am departure, we were just looking for a good rest. We paid €125 for the night.

Shuttle

A shuttle service is available from 6:30 am to 12:00 pm and from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, with a departure every 30 minutes. Due to the current closure of Terminals 1 and 2, the pick-up and drop-off point is at Roissypôle station, at the taxi exit, near Terminal 3. The trip can be booked here. The price is €5 per person one-way. We took an Uber for about €17 each way and it was simple and easy.

Room (Suite)

I was upgraded to a suite, room 523, that included a fold-out couch (already made) for the kids and a separate bedroom for my wife and me.

The room also had a refrigerator and a coffee machine (with pods that looked like chocolate balls). There was even a welcome amenity (real chocolate).

Pool

I promised the kids we could so swimming and we headed down right after check-in to use the pool. A small indoor pool is available on request: the front desk staff will escrot you over and open the locker room for you (your guest card does not work).

Hyatt Place CDG Breakfast

Early the next morning we got the kids up at 5:30 am and went down to breakfast. I’m not sure any of us were hungry, but because we had an 11-hour flight ahead of us in economy class, we decided to eat. I even gave my kids the choice and they asked to be woken up (not that it was easy).

This hotel has held up well. You can read my earlier review, published on March 28, 2022, below.

For a one-night stay before my early flight out of CDG, the Hyatt Place Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport worked out very well as a comfortable an inexpensive option.

Booking

I saved a significant amount of money by booking a long overnight in Paris, even when factoring in the cost of the hotel plus the Uber rides back and forth. Sure, I could have saved some money and time by spending a night at the Ibis, but it is going to be a struggle to re-qualify for my Hyatt Globalist status this year, so I take every chance I can get to stay at a Hyatt. My room rate was $85. This is a Category 2 hotel, so had I used points, 7,500 would have been required.

Shuttle

From Terminal 2F, an Uber arrived within four minutes. The 10-minute journey to the hotel cost about 17EUR. There is a shuttle bus that runs during very limited hours (only between the hours of 7:00AM to 10:30AM and from 6:00PM to 8:30PM. The meeting point is on Platform 2 at Level 5 of the train station in Terminal 2 of CDG Airport) for a cost of 3€ each way.

Check-In

When checking in, I was asked for my French vaccine pass, which I did not have but my electronic vaccination record was sufficient (and my understanding is that France no longer requires a vaccine check anyway). I was assigned to room 106.

Guest Room

The room smelled brand new…like an Ikea. It was clean, quiet, and internet was fast. Like many Hyatt Place properties, there was a large couch which could have served as an extra bed.

Rather than a closet, there was a stand with a pair of hangers…this seems to be the new trend. An iron and ironing board were in a closet.

Power ports and USB A ports were available near the desk and adjacent to the bed.

Individual amenities were placed in the restroom. There was a shower, but no bathtub.

Fitness Center

A 24/7 fitness center is located on the lobby level. During my visit, a special key card from the front desk was required to access it (also to access the pool). The gym included thee treadmills, two ellipticals, two bikes, free weights, medicine balls, and an all-in-one resistance machine.

Dining

The hotel has a market which offered comfort food and French specialties like baguettes, cheese, wine, and comfort food like candy, chips, and instant soup.

a store with shelves full of food

Behind the check-in desk, Zoom Bar & Lounge offered a menu of light bites and drinks. I was going to order something from UberEats and have it sent up to the room, but decided to go downstairs for a Caesar salad at Zoom–it was edible and my first time ever eating anchovies.

Business centers seem so quaint, but came in quite handy when I had to print out my Tunisian arrivals form and COVID-19 test.

Location

Finally, let me know you really are trapped here. There’s nothing nearby within walking distance…so come prepared. Parking is 12€/day and there is electric car charging available.

CONCLUSION

This hotel served its purpose well for my brief overnight layover in Paris. While it is always sad to visit Paris without visiting Central Paris, if you’re not in the mood to go into the city during your layover or wish to get close to the airport the night before your flight, this hotel is a good choice.

Thank goodness the Caesar salad was “TASTY.”

Honestly, that looks fairly dismal and boring. I find the Regency to be not much more than that often for a quick overnight connection. So when factoring in the Uber was it really worth it?

    • Jerry Reply
      March 28, 2022 at 6:08 pm

Are you referring to the Regency in Chantilly? I LOVE that property, but on a stay back in November it was impossible to get an Uber from the hotel. I nearly missed a train back to Paris because it took 30 minutes for the taxi that the front desk ordered for me to arrive. However, had I known this and reserved a taxi the night before, there would have been no issues.

I was actually talking about the Regency CDG. With a shuttle and close by. Never stayed at Chantilly before but will look into it. Regency CDG is often only 129 per night and much more convenient than the Hyatt Place. And when factoring in the Uber just slightly more expensive.

        • Matthew Klint Reply
          March 29, 2022 at 2:36 am

Regency Shuttle was also not running at 3pm in afternoon or early enough in AM to get to airport by 5:30am. Indeed, it wasn’t much more than Hyatt Place, but I decided the review of new Hyatt was better. The two hotels are fairly close.

It still amazes me that people ask for a vaccination card against Covid. What a way to follow the science!!! I was at a Hyatt in MA last week and the signs in the elevators said: “Vaccinated people are optional to wear a mask outdoors and indoors. Non vaccinated people have to wear masks all times.” Seriously??? When will people leave their caves?

I also stay at airport hotels at CDG when leaving early in the morning (I am a bit of a paranoid about getting to the airport on time – and given the number of strikes, blackages of the peripheriques and whatnot I have seen over the years in Paris, it is not unjustified). However, I value being able to walk out of the hotel to the CDG VAL and getting right to the terminal. I think the Ibis and CitizenM are fine for that.

The ibis is my go to there.

The room is pretty good sized by French standards. That said, you’re trapped there and thus at the mercy of the hotel for drinks or snacks. IIRC, the nearest restaurant is a Burger King that’s a good mile from there. Everything else consists of grim commercial/light industrial buildings and a freeway. Nobody lives near there. Probably just as well though, as the residential areas in that part of the Paris metro are quite dodgy and your rental car could end up in flames – as is the custom in some of these areas.

    • GUWonder Reply
      April 1, 2025 at 8:08 am

On the walk from the HP CDG toward the Burger King, before you get to the outlet mall & Burger King, there is a complex on the left side that is sort of like a strip mall and there is an Indian restaurant and something else.

So Burger King isn’t the only option if willing to do that walk.

I do like the trend of replacing a stand with a pair of hangers. Make sense at a property that you would probably stay just one night and just need me to hang the clothes the next day. Basically acts as a hanging valet.

Seems rather inconvenient for an airport property (haphazard shuttle or 17€ Uber). Is there anything else around that would draw guests?

Seems ridiculous that you need to pay an extra 40% of the room rare in car service just to access the place.

    • GUWonder Reply
      April 1, 2025 at 8:13 am

About a 5 minute walk from the hotel is a public transport bus stop that has a bus go to the airport for something like €1.50 (per person). I have taken that bus a few times.

The hotel’s own shuttle van cost me €5 or something like that most times that I’ve used it. Uber and Bolt prices from the hotel shuttle pick up point at CDG and from the hotel vary quite a lot for the trips between the hotel and the airport.

The Hyatt Place and Hyatt House CDG breakfast is incredible. I left some photos on a recent tripadvisor review when I stayed in early March. Full on breakfast with literally everything. It’s a shame you missed it.

The 3 euro shuttle works very well for the hours it runs. The hyatt regency shuttle runs more frequently and is walking distance.

Does the Hyatt Regency CDG provide free breakfast to all World of Hyatt members? I haven’t been there since before the pandemic, but back then they usually charged for it.

I thought that on at least award nights that the Hyatt Place CDG was charging for breakfast in the summer of 2023 with the exception of Globalists. But maybe I was mistaken about that.

This doesn’t look bad, but there are maybe half a dozen hotels at Roissypole itself, and I doubt that any of them would be materially more expensive than this one- I have stayed in a ‘deluxe’ or something (definitely higher category than a base room but nothing too exciting) at the Pullman for €150. The shuttles, Ubers etc are too much of a faff when you’re trying to catch a flight departing at an ungodly time.

  14. GUWonder Reply
    April 2, 2025 at 1:12 pm

Air France quite often puts me up at the Pullman CDG (due to misconnects at CDG), and it’s very convenient via the free CDGVAL light rail shuttle, but on weeknights like now it tends to be more expensive than what I want to pay for an airport hotel night.

When HP CDG was a Category 1, I would use it a bunch for award nights. As category 2, it’s less interesting for me and I do ok with Hotwiring a CDG airport hotel with cashback instead: CitizenM CDG within walking distance from free CDGVAL stop is costing me less fhan $120 for the night.

Some hotels would charge $85 just for that breakfast buffet. That Dutch oven overflowing with bacon… And is that a silent butler I see in the corner? Compared to any US HP this place is the Élysée Palace.
