Review: Hyatt Regency Taoyuan International Airport (TPE)

Matthew Klint Posted onMay 15, 2026May 14, 2026 1 Comment

The Hyatt Regency Taoyuan International Airport is an excellent airport hotel with comfortable rooms and a particularly nice gym, pool, and wellness facilities with very easy access to TPE Airport via shuttle or train.

Hyatt Regency Taoyuan International Airport Review

I arrived from Bangkok at 9:30 pm and did not fly out the next night until 8:00 pm, but rather than going into Taipei, I thought it would be best to stay near the airport. Although I did ultimately go into Taipei the next morning, this proved to be a wise choice in that the hotel was very convenient and I was able to use the facilities all afternoon post-checkout prior to returning to the airport for my evening flight.

Since I don’t generate points as quickly as I used to, I tend to pay cash unless I’m really getting more than three cents per point so that I can save the point for more exotic five-star properties that I would not otherwise pay to stay at. I’ve also lost my Globalist status, but there was really no need for one on this stay. Instead, I applied a Club Award so that my breakfast would be covered.

The bill was 5,140 TWD (4,880 plus tax), or the equivalent of 162.85 USD…an excellent price and much cheaper than the Grand Hyatt in Taipei. Had I used points, it was a category 2 hotel so:

  • Off-Peak: 6,500 points
  • Standard: 8,000 points
  • Peak: 9,500 points

(though that will change later this month…)

It was a standard night, so I could burned at two cents per point, but I hope to do even better, even with the looming devaluation.

Location + Shuttle

From TPE Airport, the hotel operates shuttles outside Terminal 2 on a set schedule (here). Buses depart from Bay 7 and the service is complimentary.

But you can also take the train, which is very easy from the airport one stop to the “Airport Hotel” (A14a) stop. That station is connected to the hotel…just take the escalator up, walk out, turn left, and you’re at the hotel entrance.

Check-In

I was first off the shuttle and faced no wait to check-in (Hyatt mobile check-in is great in theory, but never seems to work). My room was upgraded to an airport-facing room and I was thanked for being a Explorist in the World Of Hyatt program.

The lobby also has a cool aviation-themed area:

Room

My room, 738, was compact but perfectly fine for what I wanted to do: rest. It included a king-size bed, couch, desk, closet, and a great view of the airport apron.

The bathroom included a single sink with walk-in shower to the right (no bathtub) and a toilet to the left.

Deep Nature branded shower amenities

A hot water kettle with tea and powdered coffee was placed next to the closet along with two water bottles (and two additional water bottles in the refrigerator). No mini-bar.

There were fairly old-school A/V hook-ups on the desk along with a pair of 110-volt plugs around the side:

The closet included an iron and ironing board as well as as safe. Robes and slippers were also in the closet:

The sound-proof glass worked well and I slept soundly.

After taking photos, I went right to bed, sleeping  from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am.

Dining

The hotel has two restaurants and a bar.

Market Café

Market Café is the hotels’ buffet-style restaurant where breakfast is served each morning from 6:00 am to 10:00 am (10:30 am on weekends). It’s also open for lunch and dinner (though closed Saturday for dinner). The breakfast buffet included both Eastern and Western menu items and I had my usual breakfast of an omelet plus salad and yogurt. Unfortunately, the coffee was terrible.

I did not set an alarm, but was wide awake before dawn and headed downstairs to eat, figuring I would go into Taipei early.

Wei Fang Chinese Restaurant

Wei Fang Chinese Restaurant is located on the 2nd floor and open for lunch and dinner every day.

The Lounge

The hotel’s bar, called The Lounge, is open daily from noon to midnight on the lobby level.

Bakery

Finally, the Bakery is also located on the lobby level and “in partnership with Nespresso” offering fresh bread, sandwiches, salads, assorted desserts, and rab-and-go light meals. It is open daily from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm.

Regency Club

Although I had Regency Club access, I missed the evening reception the night before and had to depart before evening repletion on my checkout date. As breakfast was offered in the restaurant, I did not even avail myself of this 9th floor club except to pop my head in for this picture.

The Regency Club is open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm daily, with happy hour from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Fitness Center

I mentioned the fitness center in my opening and really appreciated what a large gym was available with all the equipment I needed for an intense workout ahead of my 14-hour flight to Chicago. The equipment is not exactly cutting edge, but it is functional.

There was even a ping pong table…

Pool + Wellness

There’s also an large sized indoor pool and several whirlpools in a large pool and wellness area, that also had an infrared sauna and steam room. I spent an hour in here after my workout and loved it.

I showered the locker room before heading back to the airport.

Spa

The hotel also has a full-service spa with beauty and massage treatments, though it appeared closed on Sunday afternoon.

CONCLUSION

The Hyatt Regency Taoyuan International Airport is an excellent airport hotel and very convenient for late-night or early-morning flights from TPE. I enjoyed a nice breakfast here and loved the fitness and wellness facilities.

I love the vibrant sovereign nation of Taiwan and hope to return again soon and stay again…

This is really nice for an airport hotel. Even if it wasn’t an airport hotel and located in the city, it still looks pretty good.
