Iberia A330 Business Class: Not Bad At All

While the flight did not end well, I actually had a very pleasant trip on Iberia from Madrid to Los Angeles.

I very much enjoyed the food onboard. The first meal was particularly delicious: a unique chicken thigh stuffed with foie and pine nuts in a sauce with raisins and peaches. It sounds like a smorgasbord gone bad but was actually a perfect panoply of flavors.

The appetizers and hot bread with olive oil were also of high quality. I loved the tomato gazpacho.

Even though Iberia’s pre-arrival meal is very light compared to the hot meals offered by almost all the competition, I appreciated the tapas style and tasty ingredients. After all, dinner is not served until 10pm in Spain…

The seat is tight and storage space limited, but still fully-lie flat. Wi-Fi did not function onboard so I slept for most of the flight, a testament to the comfort of the seat.

Service was also very satisfactory…when the FAs were there. The purser introduced herself prior to the flight and again thanked me for my business prior to landing. The rest of the crew was perfectly courteous. Everyone disappeared after the first meal service, though, and really did not re-appaer until an hour before landing to serve the second meal.

Sadly, my photo incident upon landing in LA left a horrible in taste in my mouth, but from pre-takeoff to landing I would give the flight high marks overall.

Stay tuned for a full Iberia A330 Business Class report.

Considering this article and your previous highlight of the incident where the FA rush you out so she can smoke, I can’t resist to wonder, are they that lazy?

It could be as simple as that.

I flew last week from BOS to MAD and was relatively pleased. I would say the wi-fi was slow and adult spirits were on the low end of the scale (Absolut Vodka?). Food was decent and seat did what it should as I slept for better than half the flight. I give them a 7 out of 10.

See my previous post (link in first paragraph of this post). FAs were seen smoking on curb after flight–perhaps they just wanted to rush me off to get out to the curb more quickly.

“chicken thigh stuffed with foie” , does foie stand for indigestion or liver? 😉

When an IB FA goes on a power trip you’re entitled to borrow a phrase from an Almodovar’s film: “Pero os habeis vuelto gilipollas tia”? Using your best Castilian accent.

Hope you fill out the IB twitter customer feedback form on how the crew can do better.

Interestingly, I was just quoting the menu – it did not state foie gras, just foie. Whatever it was, it was delicious!

Thanks for the phrase. Not sure it would have helped the matter! 😉
