Yesterday I shared my sorrow over the passing of US Airways Dividend Miles. Now we are past the wake and it is time for a memorial service to celebrate Dividend Miles. Perhaps we celebrate Ghana-style? To help, I have composed a short “hymn” sung to the tune of “Ode to Joy” in the final movement of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Music here.
Joyful, Joyful We Salute You
US Airways Div. Miles
We Will Miss You, Can’t Forget You
You Have Been Our Faithful Friend
We Will Miss Our Special Agents
Who Never Knew North from South
And Those Special Routing Favors
Leading To Great Joy At Last!
All Your Charts With Joy Surround Us
Offered Possibility
‘Round The Earth We Often Traveled
First Class, Not Economy!
Now Comes Merger, Here Comes Change
And We Doubt The New Regime
But We Must Be Ever Patient
In this Newfound Destiny.
In A New World Run By AA
We Will Look Back On The Past
Fondly Thinking, Joyful Laughing
‘Bout All That Has Come To Pass
Now Comes Rules, Now Comes Order
Moscow’s Not In “The Japan!”
Reaching Asia Via Jo’burg
Is A Thing Of The Past!
Never Forlorn, Never Despair
While We Will Miss Ol’ US
Now Comes One-Way at Half-Price
And Partners like Eithad!
Five-Day Holds and No Processing Fees
And Agents Who Know East from West
Joyful Travel Leads Us Sunward
In The Triumph Miles of Life
Goodbye Dividend Miles! Hello AAdvantage.
During COVID-19 I’m spending my evening reading about travels of yore. This poem is art, @Matthew. The good old days.
Thanks Jerry.
