The Free Lounge For Everyone At Paris CDG

Matthew Klint Posted onAugust 28, 2018 13 Comments

If you’re transiting through Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and have some time on your hands, a new lounge offers relaxation and comfort…for free.

Called Instant Paris, this “public transit lounge” is located in Terminal 2E (Air France). It is open 24/7 and includes:

  • Yotel, an innovative hotel in an international area to relax for a couple of hours or even for a night.
  • A place of relaxation, culture and entertainment, in true Parisian style.
  • A restaurant called Naked, to enjoy organic food in a relaxed environment.

To be clear, the hotel and food are not free. But if you are facing a long layover, the seating is comfortable, there is room to spread out and even lay down, plus an outdoor terrace for some fresh air (or a smoke). The lounge is likened to a Parisian apartment, offering areas including a:

  • Dining Room
  • Play Room
  • Library
  • Office

Best of all? Peace and quiet. No annoying music or security announcements to drown out the ambiance.

Here are some pictures:

CONCLUSION

I love innovation like this. This represents a far more humane transit experience than most airport concourses. While it may represent sacrificed space, it just makes the travel experience more bearable.

How long is this going to look so serene? I love the idea, but unless they built it to handle hundreds of people at once, it’s going to get just as crowded as all the other concourses.

It’s at a dead-end of 2E before Yotel and not really anywhere near gates, so you’d have to actively seek it out. The ‘rooms’/areas mentions are off that long corridor, so it’s actually quite a lot of space.

The guy laying on the floor is smart. The floor is cleaned regularly while those couches people are laying on are never. Gross. Just wait till the homeless people in Terminal 1 find out about this and demand they are allowed in or they will strike!

CDG gets a bad rap. I think Terminal 2 CDG is actually very nice and easy. Terminal 1, on the other hand….

That photo with the guy just sprawled out on the floor with his phone at the power outlet is hilarious. #uncouth

France has great airports with great food. The people who complain about CDG are crazy.

Thank you so much for this! I’ll be traveling with my 5 year daughter soon and we’ll be arriving to 2E. I’ll have a carry on (no baggage claim) Is this easy to find? Would you suggest going here for a bit and then heading out? I’ll be waiting four hours for family to arrive (not sure what terminal they’re going to be arriving at yet) New to traveling but I know my little one would like to take a good nap here before exploring

Hi, is there any Business lounge in the transit area at terminal 2e CDG airport.
After the passport control area, and near the gates.
Where we can pay and use it.
