The Lufthansa Lounge in London Heathrow is functional and practical for Star Alliance flyers departing from Terminal 2A and had a surprise that made me laugh out loud.
Lufthansa Lounge London Review (LHR)
During my long day in T2, my friend and I made our way from the United Club (our base) to this lounge to get our steps. Regular flyers from the Queen’s Terminal will know it’s quite a trek between Terminal 2A and Terminal 2B.
Access + Hours + Location
After clearing security in T2, walk upstairs, past the checkpoint where your boarding pass is verified, turn left (turn right for the Plaza Premium Lounge), walk past all the transit counters, bear right, and go upstairs to the third level. There, you’ll find the lounge next to the Aer Lingus Lounge.

It is open each day from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM and is available to Star Alliance business and first class travelers, Star Alliance Gold members, Miles & More Frequent Traveler status holders, and select credit card holders. One-time passes are also sold on the Lufthansa website and at the reception desk.

Two Lounges In One
This lounge is actaully two lounges in one: as you walk in, you are in the Lufthansa Business Lounge, which is for premium cabin travelers. Toward the back, here is a large Senator Lounge sign. Scan your boarding pass and the doors will open if you have access. It’s really more of the same (and I noticed no difference in food and beverage selection), but theoretically, it is quieter.
Food + Drink
I was rather amused to see the lounge special was a taco bar…in a Lufthansa Lounge in England of all places! Yes, I had to try it…the bar included chile con carne, tomato salsa, lettuce, and flour tortillas. It tasted like European Mexican food…which is to say it wasn’t great, but I did appreciate the effort.

Other food items included:
- Mushroom & vegetable soup
- Pulled ham hock, pickled gherkins, whole grain mustard & salad wrap
- Free range egg mayonnaise & spinach sandwich
- Tomato & cucumber salad
- Oriental slaw with sweet chilli sauce
- Braised pilaf rice
- Broccoli. & cauliflower casserole
- Penne pasta with vegan feta cheese
- Peanuts
- Pretzels
- Bread
- Sliced meats and cheeses
- Cookies
- Cake
- Gummy bears

Self-serve alcohol, coffee, tea, soft drinks, juice, and water were also available.

Restroom + Showers
Restrooms and showers are available. Request shower access at reception.
Newspapers
I love that this lounge still has physical newspapers and magazines, particularly the UK Daily Mail!

CONCLUSION
I like this lounge, even if I would never arrive early for it. If your flights are departing from Terminal 2B, I think the Singapore Airlines and United Clubs are better choices, but this is a respectable Lufthansa outstation lounge.
My prior review, from July 21, 2018, is below.
The Lufthansa Lounge in London Heathrow’s Terminal 2 is a spacious lounge with nice amenities and plenty of natural light.
If you’re used to Lufthansa lounges in Germany, you’ll feel right at home in this one. Seating is plentiful and at midday, the lounge was not crowded at all. The lounge was also quiet…it was nice not to have any music playing in the background. Power plugs are plentiful and typically dual: one to accept UK plugs and another to accept German/EU plugs. You’ll need an adapter for U.S. plugs.

This lounge is a far cry from the carrier’s recently refurbished lounge in Milan Malpensa. While the decor is similar, the Heathrow lounge is more than double the size, avoiding severe crowding issues.
Complimentary food is available, including an assortment of hot and cold items. All food and drink is self-serve.

Business or Senator Lounge?
In the back of the lounge, you’ll see a sliding door with the words “Senator Lounge” written above it. That’s Lufthansa lounge-within-a-lounge for Star Alliance Gold cardmembers and connecting first class travelers.
If you’re eligible for this lounge, you’ll be given a slip of paper with a QR code on it when you enter the lounge. It looks like this:

Scan this QR code on that scanner to the right of the sliding doors that looks like a helium tank:

Inside, the lounge is almost identical to the business lounge with the exception of an extra hot food choice. It felt like the Senator Lounge was more crowded than the business lounge.

Finally, note that internet worked very well in the lounge and restrooms and showers are available. The lounge is open daily from 5:00a.m. to 10:00p.m.
CONCLUSION
Compared to Paris or Milan, this is an excellent Lufthansa lounge. While the Singapore, United, and Air Canada lounges are all excellent as well, if you are departing out of Zone A at LHR Terminal 2, I would just stick to the Lufthansa Lounge.

I was in this Senator lounge last week around 11 am; not very crowded then and as you say plenty of food and drink. I found it quite quiet and refreshing.
Are you sure that the LH lounge has showers? I thought that it was the only one of the *A lounges (actually, it might be the only one out of ALL the lounges) in LHR T2 that didn’t.
I’m pretty sure there are no showers, LH website also omits showers in the description.
It’s a complete zoo in the early morning and evening
I have always really liked the Senator Lounge for reasons I don’t quite understand. I think it’s just a nice atmosphere and very comforting. The UA lounge (although, on the face of it, is better but it’s not comforting and the atmosphere isn’t nice. The SQ lounge has a nice atmosphere but isn’t very comforting. The AC lounge is a laggard.
I need at least another paragraph on the taco bar. The tortillas themselves are triangle shaped? “Tacos is…” versus “Tacos are…”. What were the interesting facts about tacos?
From when the LH lounge opened in 2014 until Covid, the SEN lounge was way better than the business lounge in terms of F&B offering, there was no comparison with wider choice and way superior dishes. Then when it reopened after Covid it was all the same, reduced to the level of below what the business lounge used to be in the great Lufthansa service reductions to make ever more obscene levels of profit.
AFAIK, this downgrade was applied to all SEN lounges outside Germany where there still is a differentiated offering but who knows how long that will last.
A nice, spacious lounge with a decent offering of food and drinks…
“I was rather amused to see the lounge special was a taco bar…in a Lufthansa Lounge in England of all places!”
This is quintessential British cuisine – you should come here more often!
Some people are a bit critical of Lufthansa Lounges, but I actually like most of them. Their food spread is decent and is better than BA IMHO. Other European carriers don’t even come close to the variety of food offered.
I agree that their London lounges are better than UA or AC. The only thing missing is a great view of the runways. SQ London Lounge is still my favorite but when there is a SQ flight operating, you can’t get in. Lufthansa Lounge at T2 will be my choice after SQ.
Def the weakest of the Star Alliance lounges at LHR.
I prefer the LH SEN lounge over the others. Quieter, more seating options including work spaces, a printer, newspapers, and decent food. I find the UA lounge generally quite crowded and noisy. The last time I went to the AC lounge, while I gained entry, I was ‘reminded’ that there was an UA lounge for UA flights.
