Small touches can make a big difference. Just a few small upgrades the the Lufthansa Welcome Lounge in Frankfurt really elevated the experience…for me at least.
The upgrades: a new coffee machine with Lavazza coffee beans, new Staub cast iron dishes, and Innocent fruit smoothies.
Stop the presses!
You may say it’s just coffee, but do you know what a difference the new Lavazza machine and beans makes versus the old no-name coffee and WMF machine?
It’s like night and day.
And Innocent fruit smoothies?
These only cost 1-2EUR at the grocery store, yet they add an element to breakfast that I love.
Staub dishes?
Unnecessary, but aesthetically pleasing and a mark of quality.
Perhaps you’ll disagree, but these small touches add an extra touch of quality to one of my favorite lounges. Don’t miss this lounge if you’re arriving in Frankfurt from a longhaul Lufthansa or United flight in a premium cabin.
CONCLUSION
In case you’re wondering, the Lufthansa Welcome Lounge at FRA serves as an arrivals-lounge for intercontinental Lufthansa and United passengers. It is open between 5AM and 12:30PM every day and requires a business or first class boarding pass. You can freshen up after your longhaul flight with a hearty breakfast and shower.

I’m a fan of the WMF latte macchiato myself so not sure if the kitchen sink maker can top the kitchen utensils maker for my proffered coffee machine.
No complaints about the other changes though.
Lavazza coffee is amazing. They serve it a Pearson’s US departure lounge. It’ll be a sad day when the cut the budget and sub that coffee for some random no name crap.
I have that in my espresso machine and still would rather have the WMF.
Simple palettes make for a much more enjoyable life :-).
Great post. Thanks for this. And I also think Lavazza coffee is excellent. So is illy that UA serves, but it appears to me UA’s catering brews it too thin.
Those opening hours are typical German, closing at 12:30 pm is laughable for a welcome lounge.
Seems to be a nice product but useless for many of us. I will be arriving from Chicago at 1:50pm with Lufthansa. Anyone knows if there is another lounge at Frankfurt i can access on arrival as a Lufthansa business class passenger?
