Too Lit To Lift Off: Man Kicks Himself Off United Flight After Booze Denial

An already-tipsy man was so insensed that he was cut off from more alcohol before the flight even took off that he grabbed his belongings and kicked himself off the flight before flight attendants could…

Man Kicks Himself Off United Airlines Flight After Flight Attendant Denies Him More Alcohol…

The incident occurred on a United flight from Denver (DEN) to London (LHR) operated by a Boeing 787-9 aircraft.  During the boarding process, a Polaris business class passenger became very upset when a flight attendant denied him additional alcohol (United serves pre-departure beverages to its business class passengers).

The man was quite belligerent, to the extent that his lack of sobriety potentially threatened others if his behavior became worse onboard.

As shared on reddit:

Mildly interesting situation DEN to LHR last night. Guy two rows behind us in Polaris starts causing a huge ruckus, seemingly because FA wouldn’t serve him additional booze. Seemed like he was already pretty drunk. Ranting about how he’s 2.5 million miler and everyone on the plane had already been drinking as well. Real jerk.

The situation was escalating and I was thinking he is definitely getting kicked off. Hoping it wasn’t going to delay us. Well, he loudly grabbed all his stuff and said he’s not flying United, exited the plane. Seems like he thought everyone would be really sad he would no longer be gracing us with his presence.

I’m sure this traveler and everyone else onboard was quite thankful that the man not so drunk as to realize that he had picked the wrong fight onboard and would not be traveling.

By “self-deporting” from this flight, will he avoid further discipline from United, like a ban for being belligerent? I’d say yes…it’s a good sign when you know you’ve had too much and solve the problem yourself. Imagine how much worse it would have been had the situation gone like this:

  • flight attendant alerts captain, who alerts ground staff to remove the man
  • ground staff enter the plane and the man puts up a big fuss or refuses to leave
  • man is dragged off the plane, not only making a fool out of himself, but delaying departure for everyone

His drunkness, deplorable as it was, was self-corrected by leaving the plane. It’s an ideal solution to this very common problem…what a shame it doesn’t happen more often (even if this fool did it for all the wrong reasons, like a decision to go out and find more liquor).

Have you ever seen a passenger kick himself off a flight?

lol. Must not’ve factored Denver’s high altitude into his drinking calculations…

Poor guy, hopefully BA was leaving a tittle later where he’d be free to party & ‘dance’ in the lav/inflight disco to his heart’s content ! Party pooping UA !
Maybe that’s why AA”s F/A’s are so infrequent with their PDB’s., They ‘mistakenly’ believe their 1st class pax are already ‘lubricated’. … !
