For this week’s Minute Review, we take a look at the aging yet resilient product onboard the EVA 777-300ER in “Royal Laurel” business class.

Recognizing that I’m a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to writing out reviews and even blogging, I’ve introduced a new video series I call “Minute Reviews.” These are meant to provide very digestible reviews of airline products, giving you a high-level overview of what to expect.
This week, my video is on EVA’s 777 on a 13 hour, 45 minute flight from Taipei (ORD) to Chicago (ORD). Despite the Royal Laurel reverse herringbone business class seating dating back 15 years, it remains a very comfortable seat and the the soft product, particularly the service and premium coffee menu, were excellent. I also loved the amenity kit and pajamas.

Is it just me or do I hear a slight British accent in this 🙂
Not so much to me, but the pronunciation of “privacy” stands out. I’m guessing his lovely German bride might tend to use British pronounciations.
Matthew, one thing I’d to see in long-form widebody J reviews is adressing the privacy of the “internal” seat pairs for single teavelers. I paid attention on my recent DL A332 flight (no movable barrier, yuch). I always reserve a window seat in 1-2-1. But, if pre-selecting a seat starts costing me money, I’d be willing to risk being in the middle section if I can block out the seat mate with a proper barrier.
The video is nice but a little too dizzy provoking. I recommend not so quick panning and maybe even just still photos that change.
I love the new format! Maybe one minor suggestion – have you thought about making these minute reviews with short video clips (3-5 seconds each) instead of still pictures? I do feel like it would add a bit to the series 🙂
