New London to Baghdad Service on Al-Naser Airlines

Matthew Klint Posted onNovember 2, 2010 2 Comments

State-run Iraqi Airways ran into more than it bargained for when it attempted to restart service between Baghdad and London earlier this year. Iraq’s flag carrier had been banned in Europe since 1990 and either forgot or didn’t give credence to the $1.2 BN Kuwait asserts it is owed by Iraq for damages stemming from the first Gulf War. But Iraqi Airways quickly learned that Kuwait meant business when one of its aircraft was impounded at London Gatwick this spring.

That was that. Iraqi Airway’s grand plan to return to Europe was dashed and the carrier again retreated east.

Sensing a business opportunity in London, a group of Iraqi investors formed Alnaser Airlines, Iraq’s first private airline, that plans to inaugurate service to London tomorrow. The airline will offer twice weekly service to London onboard leased 737-200s. The airline even has a website, where they offer a description of the new airline:

AL-NASER AIRLINES A NEW ESTABLISHED AIRLINE, CONSIDERED AS THE FIRST PRIVATE IRAQI AIRLINE THAT ACHIEVED THE IRAQI AOC.THE COMPANY OWNED THREE BOEING AIRCRAFT WHICH ARE TWO B737-200 AND ONE B767-233. THEY START BUSINESS BY LEASE ITS AIRCRAFT ON LEASE SERVICES, CHARTER AND VIP BASIS. IN THE 2009 THE COMPANY ACHIEVED THE IATA DESIGNATOR LETTER (6N) AND STARTS ITS SCHEDULE FLIGHT FROM BAGHDAD TO ALL DOMESTIC CITIES IN IRAQ AND TO THE MOST OF ARABIC AND FAR EAST COUNTRIES. ALL THE FLEET OF AL-NASER AIRLINES ARE INSURED WITH THE BEST AND HIGHEST INSURANCE TERMS AND COMPANIES LIKE WILLIS, AND ALL THE AIRCRAFTS ARE UP TO ALL FAR AND JAR REGULATION. AL-NASER AIRLINES WILL EXPAND ITS FLEET BY PURCHASING ANOTHER FOUR AIRCRAFTS TO COVER MORE DESTINATIONS.FINALY FLYING WITH ALNASER AIRLINES WILL BE A JOYFUL JOURNEY AND UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE.

Al-Naser promises a joyful and unforgettable experience. And don’t worry–they’re insured!
