Coming Up: New Trip Reports

For the last few months I have held off on publishing new trip reports. But it’s time to start clearing the backlog.

In what seems like ages ago but was only late March, I made the choice to stop publishing new trip reports. With the world starting to shut down but COVID-19 still not a household term, I felt it was not the right time to publish new trip reports.

It’s still not an ideal time for at least three reasons:

  • People still are not traveling internationally
  • Airlines and hotels have cut service drastically, mitigating the relevancy of a review that is even just a few months old
  • Blog search traffic is down – I still have plenty of readers thanks to all of you, but people are not googling for flight or hotel reviews these days…and that is understandable

So I’ve dragged my feet on resuming my trip reports, but lest they grow even more stale, it is time to publish them.

Three Upcoming Trip Reports

So here’s what you have to look forward to:

Hawaii – a father-son trip to Honolulu in February with Augustine

Europe – reviews of all oneworld lounges in Heathrow T3, Finnair A330 + A321 business class, Finnair Platinum Wing in HEL, Hilton Helsinki Strand, Air France A350 business class, Hyatt Regency Toronto, Air Canada Signature Suite YYZ, Air Canada 787 Business Class

Africa – reviews of United’s 787 Cape Town service in business class, the Westin Cape Town, South African Airways A319 + A330 business class, Marriott Accra, Kempinski Accra, day trip to Cape Coast Castle, overland trip to Lomé, Air Burkina ERJ-195 to Benin, Turkish Airlines 737 + 777 business class

Each trip was exhilarating and being homebound the last few months has made me appreciate travel so much more. It’s true that the lounge offerings and in-flight dining may not resemble what you will experience for the foreseeable future. But if anything, it will be a great reminder of the height of pre-pandemic travel.

We’ll start with Hawaii and work our way down. I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for reading throughout the pandemic. We’re still far from “normal” but the trip reports should return some semblance of normality to Live and Let’s Fly.

Until America gets new leadership on COVID19, I dont see too many new international trip reports coming out in the future, but look forward to these ones!

That’s the sad thing. It could be years. Especially in the USA…

I’m glad you will be publishing more trip reports. Even though I will probably never be able to afford many of the trips, you do help me dream and I do very much miss the travels of my younger years.
